Tonight some of the biggest names in showbiz will be teaming up for the annual Stand Up to Cancer fundraising telecast.
In addition to previously announced stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry and Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Melissa McCarthy, Steve Carell, Sofia Vergara, Joe Manganiello and dozens more are slated to make an appearance during the event—one of the biggest television events of the year.
Some of Bravo's own shiny celebs are helping to shed light on the cause. Top Chef's Gail Simmons tells The Dish, "Cancer awareness is important to me because too many people I love have been touched by it."
Meanwhile Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes added, "It's important to stand up to cancer to give people hope and understanding that they are not alone in this battle."
She's not the only housewife helping out. Real Housewives of New Jersey's Melissa Gorga shared, "I've lost too many loved ones to this disease. It's time to find a cure!"
In addition to the star-studded appearances, the telecast will include musical performances from A-listers including the Who, Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco and Common, Ariana Grande, and Dave Matthews.
Katie Couric will be hosting and reaching out to supporters from the On-Stage Digital Lounge. The Lounge will allow for a unique experience, allowing celebrities to reach out to viewers via phone, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms.
Bravo will be airing the annual Stand Up to Cancer fundraising telecast this Friday, September 5 at 8p ET/PT and 7p CT. The one-hour special will also be streamed live on Hulu and Yahoo.
