Casey Wilson: Why I Love the Real Housewives

The Hotwives of Orlando star on her favorite 'Wives and franchises.

By Kevin O'Donnell

With The Real Housewives Awards in full swing, we've asked celebrities and pop culture icons to share why they love our hit franchise. This week, Casey Wilson, Saturday Night Live alum and star of the Hulu parody The Hotwives of Orlando, on why she adores RHOC, the wisdom of Pheadra Parks and her all-time favorite Housewives moment.

I am "O.C. O.G." I've loved Orange County and have been there since the beginning when Lauri Waring Peterson was working for Vicki Gunvalson. And Jeana Keough and Vicki were still going strong. Those were simpler times. I remember watching it and thinking WHAT IS THIS and WHY AM I ADDICTED to watching these women yell at one another? I also love Atlanta and Beverly Hills and New York City. I'm not a huge New Jersey or Miami fan and let's not speak about Washington D.C.rha-dish.png

My favorite moment I have ever witnessed was most likely when Dana Wilkey (of the $25K sunglasses fame on Beverly Hills) came back last season to have a drink with Taylor Armstrong and her weave was on sideways and she lit a cigarette dangling from her mouth without using her hands off the candle on the table and didn't miss a beat. That was very special. Also every moment between Kelly Bensimon on Scary Island was a treasure, and anything Phaedra Parks says regarding her mortuary business is wonderful.

I am riveted by Phaedra Parks and her performance of herself. She kills me. I love when she said, "I like everything about the dead because they're so quiet. Think about it, how quiet it would be to live in a room with no one that is alive." Inspiring words.

Tawny, my character on the upcoming Hulu parody Hotwives of Orlando, is inspired largely by Tamra Barney, Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino of the O.C., with a dash of Vicki and Kim Zolciak from Atlanta; and a sprinkling of Kenya Moore (another fave). My research process (and someone had to do it) was to watch Every. Single. Episode. Of. Every. Single. Season. And. City. Luckily, I had already done that!

I am a method actress so I also pulled a friend's hair out and drank a gallon of Chard before every scene.
