East Coast vs. West Coast: Patti pits NYC against L.A.

The Matchmaker lets us know why she prefers California daters every time -- and what Matthew McConaughey has to do with it.

Anyone who watched Season 4 of The Millionaire Matchmaker can tell you that NYC was not Patti Stanger's favorite place. The Manhattanites seemed to be anti-Stanger from the beginning, with daters flagrantly ignoring her words of wisdom (for shame). So Patti's making no secret of how excited she is to be back in L.A. (as this clip shows).

But why? We asked Patti what it is that makes the West Coast so receptive to her advice.

"I think they're appreciative and I think it's a really rough town to be single in," Patti admitted. "Everyone's beautiful here, but nobody commits. When you have Matthew McConaughey as your poster boy living on the beach in a trailer with two kids and dating a Catholic girl who you won't marry -- you know anything goes here. We're the land of anything goes. You can't do that on Wall Street. If you did it on Wall Street you'd be a flight risk to them."

Patti believes it's the cycle of non-committal men that makes ladies more receptive to her advice, while the New York folks just get bitter. "They were the bitterest people I've ever seen -- and they're dumb," Patti assessed. "They're just dumb people. Smart in business, dumb in love I say. They won't date outside of their zipcode. They won’t go to the suburbs."

On the other hand, Patti admits she's got Los Angeles whipped: "L.A. they listen to me."

See how much Los Angeles listens tonight at 9/8 C when The Millionaire Matchmaker returns. Want to start your own West Coast/East Coast battle? Decide which daters you prefer in our Tweet Battles.
