If you think that Ellen DeGeneres is embroiled in a secret plan to topple Donald Trump's presidential administration, you'd be wrong — but the Finding Dory star is flattered in any case. DeGeneres has addressed Eric Trump's January 2 allegation that she is involved in a "deep state" group of government employees who have it out for his father.
On the January 4 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the affable comedian responded to the tweet. "I'm flattered you think that I'm powerful enough to be part of a government conspiracy," she said. "I am sorry to disappoint you, I am not part of the deep state."
DeGeneres went on to ask a few questions. "First of all, which one is Eric? Did he kill the elephant or the cheetah? Which one? I don’t know,” she asked, referring to the Trump family's history with big game hunting. “Second, what is the deep state? Is it near Dollywood? ’Cause I’m in if it is.”
The talk show host went on to surmise that the reason Twitter suggested that Eric follow her could be because his sisters, Tiffany and Ivanka Trump, already do follow her on social media.
And, DeGeneres added, Eric may not be sorry if he does decide to check out her feed every now and then. "I post a lot of cute videos," she pointed out. Watch DeGeneres' full comments, below.
