Sweet news! Bravotv.com can exclusively reveal that Top Chef: Just Desserts judge Dannielle Kyrillos is expecting! We couldn't be happier for the super-sweet judge (seriously, she might be the nicest person on Earth) and her husband. Upon hearing the news, we immediately yenta-d out and asked Dannielle as many prying questions as we could:
Bravotv.com: How did you react when you found out you were pregnant?
DK: My husband, JP, and I are absolutely ecstatic to be expecting our first baby! We are over the moon and are feeling so lucky and blessed and excited. Since it's our first, we're also both a little anxious about doing everything just right so the baby will arrive healthy and strong, and of course later attend Brown on a combination violin-basketball-excellence in archaeology scholarship. So I've been eating a lot of kale.
Bravotv.com: Are you starting to show?
DK: In the early days of pregnancy, when it was too soon to tell anyone or talk about it, I just looked like I'd been eating too many desserts, which was also true. Now that I'm farther along, the dessert belly has morphed into a definite baby belly. I was wary of anything called "maternity pants," but now I am really into wearing only soft, stretchy clothes. Between that and all the naps and random fits of crying, it's a little like being in preschool.
Bravotv.com: When are you due?!
DK: They tell me the baby will arrive in early April, just in time for spring, but hopefully it will still be chilly enough to dress him or her in hats resembling fruits and vegetables.
Bravotv.com: Do you have any weird cravings yet?
DK: All my cravings have been dessert-related. I've become a cliche and more than once polished off most of a pint of Chubby Hubby in one sitting. Also, it was my birthday a few weeks ago, and we went to Jean Georges, where my dear friend and TCJD head judge, Johnny Iuzzini, is Executive Pastry Chef. He made something like 18 desserts for me, each more wizardly and gorgeous than the next. I crave all of them almost nightly.
Bravotv.com: Do you know if it’s a girl or a boy?
DK: We decided to not find out the baby's gender, and are just hoping for a healthy little person to love and cherish!
We're kvelling! (OK, done with the Yiddish.) Leave your well wishes for the happy couple below!
