Garcelle Beauvais Hasn't Been Able to See Her Newborn Grandson Amid Social Distancing

"I haven’t been able to hold him," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newcomer said.

Garcelle Beauvais had some big news to share with new friend Erika Girardi in the April 22 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: She's going to be a grandma!

Yes, Garcelle's eldest son Oliver, 28, was expecting his first child at the time. Though both Garcelle and Erika said they needed a drink to digest that news, which you can see in the above video, the newest Beverly Hills Housewife couldn't contain her excitement when Oliver welcomed son Oliver Jr. in February.

Garcelle hasn't been able to resist sharing adorable photo after adorable photo of her newborn grandson on Instagram since then, and we totally don't blame her. But unfortunately, those pics are the only way Garcelle can see her son and grandbaby these days.

She told The Daily Dish earlier this month that she hasn't been able to see these loved ones in person due to stay-at-home orders and social distancing amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "Oh my god, I am so excited, and because of social distancing, I haven’t been able to hold him, and they don’t live in L.A.," she shared. "I mean, we FaceTime, we Zoom, and I just want him to know my voice and to know me. And so I can’t wait until we can get back to normal, and I can go see him as soon as I can."

Luckily, Garcelle and her 11-year-old twin sons, Jax and Jaid, were able to fly out to meet Oliver Jr. in person after he was born. However, Oliver Sr.'s wedding, which was slated for March 27, has been postponed.

Though it's still "crazy" to Garcelle that she's a grandmother now, it's something that she is very proud of. "I think it’s a badge of honor," she said. "It’s a legacy that you’re leaving behind."

She also recalled that moment she shared her happy news with Erika as a major bonding moment for the two. "I remember when I spoke to Erika about it, she’s like, 'Oh my god, I could be a grandmother, too,' ‘cause she obviously has a son that’s old enough to have a child," Garcelle said. "So it was really interesting, and I think we bonded over that too, having older kids to worry about, 'cause you always worry as a mom, whether they’re toddlers or they’re grown people. So I think we connected on that level, too."
