We Finally Know Why Gina Kirschenheiter Has Never Been to Ex Matt Kirschenheiter's LA Apartment

The Real Housewives of Orange County mom addresses not one but TWO misconceptions about her from Season 13.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Even before Gina Kirschenheiter announced that she had filed for divorce from husband Matt Kirschenheiter, there were some aspects of her relationship that raised eyebrows among The Real Housewives of Orange County squad — chief among them was the fact that Matt stayed in an apartment on weekdays because it was more convenient for his job in Los Angeles. Even more unbelievable to the ladies: Gina said she had never been to Matt's apartment and didn't even know where it was located.

When The Daily Dish caught up with Gina in late October, she shared that she and the couple's three kids, Nicholas, 6, Sienna, 4, and Luca, 3, still had not been to Matt's apartment. "It's so far away! Everybody gives me crap about that, too," Gina said. "It's a good almost two hours away. It's like a crash pad. It's like a crappy apartment... it's not like he's a bachelor in LA. And there's no reason to go there."

Gina and Matt moved from New York to Orange County after he got "an amazing opportunity" in California, she said earlier this season of RHOC, but then Matt  got another opportunity in northern LA. Gina explained why Matt got an apartment close to work in lieu of the whole family relocating to LA: "We considered it, but it's just hard because I'm so happy here. My kids are so adjusted, and I did the big move," she said on RHOC. "It's really hard, but I adjusted. And it works for us."

And Gina isn't here for any speculation as to why she's never been to Matt's apartment, especially infidelity allegations, which Gina has repeatedly shut down. "Lots of husbands travel for work. Lots of husbands are traveling to different hotel rooms all the time for work. Are their wives going to every hotel room and checking it out?" Gina clapped back at the haters during an interview with The Daily Dish. "It's a normal thing that if people work and they work far away that they have a place to live. It's not like he's stashing ladies there."

Gina also clarified her statement that she doesn't believe in God during Vicki Gunvalson's Italian dinner earlier this season. "All of a sudden, I felt like I'm the face of atheism, and I am sort of an agnostic. I just don't know. That's fair enough. And I'm not super religious. I grew up Catholic. I baptized all three of my children, basically for my mother and just in case. I don't know, there could be something up there, and in that case, I bought their ticket, you know? I don't really practice a religion, so when I make really major life decisions, I'm not gonna base it off of a religion that I don't practice."

However, Gina said that she understands why practicing a faith is so important to others. "I have friends who are super religious. Maritza wants to pray over me before I do anything, and I think that's beautiful. It matters so much to them that they want to pray over you, I will take that," she said. "If it's important to you, then why not? It's just a nice gesture that somebody can do for you. It's a nice thing they can do for you. You know, I love when people are religious and that's what grounds them. It makes them a better person. I'm all for it."
