The #MDLLA Wedding is Off

Last October, Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles couple Josh Altman and Heather Bilyeu decided to postpone their wedding after they realized just how much work it takes to put together a bash — and how much effort it takes to maintain a good relationship. And in hindsight, Heather believes it was the right choice for the hardworking pair.

How to Watch

Catch up on Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles on Peacock or the Bravo App.

“I’m really happy we made that decision together to postpone the wedding because it just didn’t feel right," she told Reality Tea. "I felt empowered by the decision at the end of the day, as weird as that sounds, and I felt a huge relief also... That was a really, really emotional time for me. There was just so much going on and it was really chaotic. I almost went through with the wedding and I feel like if I would have Josh and I might not be together. Or our relationship wouldn’t be where it is now.”

But before they even decided to spend their lives together, there was one hurdle that Heather had to surpass in order to feel secure in her relationship with Josh. “When we first started dating, it was a little difficult because I felt like I was in the shadows of him even though I’ve been doing real estate longer,” she said, adding that she's been in the business for 11 years.

These days, that's not an issue for Heather. “Since then I have learned to come into my own and really showcase what I do and not compare myself to him,” she said. “I’ve found more confidence in who I am — we’re different individuals and we both bring different things to the table. Since then I feel we’re not compared as much and we’re seen as different entities and different businesses. Together we’re a big powerhouse, and separately we’re also great.”
