Heather Locklear has checked into a rehab facility, according to a source who spoke with Entertainment Tonight. The Melrose Place actress has had difficult times in the past — she was, for example, arrested in 2008 on a DUI charge. But in recent weeks, things took a dramatic turn.
On February 25, police responded to a domestic violence call at the actress' home. Allegedly, Locklear had battered her boyfriend Chris Heisser before police arrived. When the officers entered Locklear's home, she is said to have physically attacked three deputies.
Later that evening, Locklear was evaluated at a local hospital. After being charged with one count felony domestic and three counts misdemeanor battery on a police officer, she spent a night in jail before her $20,000 bail was posted. That same night, Heisser was arrested for driving under the influence in Thousand Oaks, California.
Even before her arrest last month, sources say that things were "spiraling out of control" for the star. Locklear allegedly has a long history with substance abuse, and "her friends and family [were] telling her it [was] time to go back to rehab," according to a source. "She needs it badly. It's sad she lets things get this out of control before she gets helped." Sources add that Locklear's 20-year-old daughter, Ava, has also begged her mother to seek treatment.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Lisa Rinna, sent support to her former Melrose Place co-star. Lisa posted a throwback pic with Locklear on Instagram, writing, "Sending love to you @heatherlocklear You are beautiful, special and so many people love you! We love you!!!"
Locklear's next court appearance is scheduled for March 13.
