Kelly Bensimon Thinks Caitlyn Jenner Is a "Style Icon"
The #RHONY alum critiques the sartorial choices of the 'I Am Cait' star.
Caitlyn Jenner has quickly become a fashion force to be reckoned with. Since making her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair in June, the I Am Cait star has managed to snag headlines — not only for serving as a voice for the transgender community but also for her on-the-mark sense of style. Along the way, she's also managed to collect a few Bravolebrity fans, including Real Housewives of New York alum Kelly Bensimon, whose look and style has been compared to Caitlyn's. "I am extremely flattered not only to be compared to the newest 'It Girl,' but to be asked to give my opinion on such a style icon," Kelly told the Daily Dish.
Kelly, who is not only a former editor at Elle Accessories but has also penned two books (I CAN MAKE YOU HOT and American Style), is sharing her take on some of Cailtyn's most signature looks so far.
2015 ESPY Awards, Los Angeles
Kelly's take: "This Versace gown is not only pure in color, but the draping is incredibly figure flattering and gives an hour glass look."
Getting lunch with daughter Kendall at Sugarfish, Beverly Hills
Kelly's take: "Not my favorite look on Caitlyn. I feel the skirt is too short for a woman of her age. The skirt could have been longer, the shoes should be closed toe, and the top is more suited for jeans. However, her hair is flawless and her jewelry choice is delicate and on-point!"
Getting dinner at Tutto il Giorno, NYC
Kelly's take: "I love this look! Her hair and makeup look amazing! Black dresses are always a go-to for me. My only note to make this look a bit more modern is to wear a higher heel. My rule is 4 inches or flats for evening."
Going into the Patricia Field shop, NYC
Kelly's take: "This is one of my favorite looks on Caitlyn! She looks incredibly lean and fit. The kitten heal shoe choice is perfection and I'm always in favor of diamond studs."
Leaving the Patricia Field shop, NYC
Kelly's take: "There is nothing wrong with being playful with color and with architectural blazers but for me, the proportions are off. I would have worn a short skirt with a long jacket, like the Cake song..."
Taking in a performance of the Broadway show An American in Paris, NYC
Kelly's take: "This cobalt blue wrap dress is drop dead gorgeous! I have coveted one from DvF myself! The cobalt blue brings out the natural highlights in her hair and warms up her skin-tone. Not loving the bag, clothes only with evening wear!"
And if Caitlyn — or any other fashionsiatas — are looking for some clues from the former model on how to step up your game, here are Kelly's four rules to remember:
