Kirstie Alley Is in a Feud with ... the U.S. Curling Team?!

This is one spat we didn't see curling, er, coming.

By Jenny Berg

Kirstie Alley is no stranger to controversy. (Just ask her former Dancing with the Stars co-star, Maksim Chmerkovskiy!) But, the actress' latest feud is not one we could ever see coming. Let's just put this out there: Alley is embroiled in some drama with the 2018 U.S. Olympic Curling Team. Or, shall we say: things were icy between the actress and the team. (Sorry, had to.)

Here's what's going down: In a February 19 tweet that has since been deleted, Alley called the sport of curling "boring." Well, everyone is entitled to have her favorite sports ... just as everyone is entitled to his own taste in movies.

John Shuster, a member of the Olympic curling team, was quick to respond to the actress' tweet. "We're not trying to be mean either but your movies weren't exactly riveting theater Kristie," he wrote. Wait — is that a slam against Look Who's Talking?

The actress took the comeback in stride, and jokingly vowed on February 20 that she would try her very best to "not offend anyone anywhere anytime ... about anything."

But despite all the eye-rolling emoji in the tweet above, the actress did seem to be reconsidering her stance on the ice-bound sport. Later in the day, she announced that she was going to give curling a "second chance" — with only hearts (and no sarcastic faces) here:

Still, Alley was surprised at the drama that her seemingly innocent original tweet had caused. In subsequent remarks left on Twitter, she noted that the United States has bigger fish to fry at the moment — and that the backlash against her comment seemed rather over-the-top.

But, plot twists again! Things got rosier when the Men's Olympic Curling Team invited Alley and her son to "learn the ropes" of the sport — and to pick up curling shirts. "I'm in!" the actress tweeted back.

And, to put the whole feud to rest, Alley later shared that she had stumbled upon the 2018 Men of Curling calendar, which "ain't boring at all!"

"I recant!" she joked. Hey, curling team: Can Alley get a calendar with that T-shirt?
