The former #PumpRules SURver opens up about experimenting with her funny side.

Kristen Doute Is Branching Out into the Comedy World

Kristen Doute may not always flex her funny bone on Vanderpump Rules, but the former SURver has been embracing her inner comedian as of late. As a member of the sketch comedy team Pretty Inappropriate, Kristen admits that it's been refreshing to "branch out [and] expand [her] acting chops" outside the world of drama. But, don't expect to see Kristen to have her own TV comedy special anytime soon.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

"So when it comes to comedy, it's kind of a new thing for me," she told The Daily Dish. "I'm the first to say I'm not a stand up comedian, at all. I've been acting for a really long time. I've typically done a lot of suspense thrillers, drama; and comedy wasn't something I had done a lot of — except for a couple short films. So Rachel O'Brien, my best friend, I would go to all her stand up shows. And we went to a sketch comedy show that one of our girlfriends did and it was just really intriguing to me because it's just acting. It's not improv, because ours is scripted, but it's really just flying by the seat of your pants."

Her turn into the world of comedy was, in part, inspired by Vanderpump Rules. "It's like the best improv training ever. And I have no nerves anymore and I think that was always my hangup about not doing comedy or not doing any more stage work."

Kristen doesn't know what's in the cards as far as her career in comedy goes, but for now, she's having fun. "I'm definitely never going to do stand up, but it's a fun way to keep my acting career going and see where it goes from there," she said. "I found out that I really love writing too, which is cool."

Just in time for the holidays, Kristen and her sketch troupe will host a holiday-themed show featuring Julie Goldman from The People's Couch (and, of course, the Vanderpump Rules After Show). It all goes down this weekend in L.A. Get the full info, below. -Reporting by Crystal Puccio

Kristen and her crew will perform Saturday, December 12 in L.A.

You can also catch Kristen on Vandeprump Rules, every Monday at 9/8c. Check out a Season 4 highlight.
