Kristen Taekman's Hairstylist Reveals the Must-Have Look for Fall

If you’ve ever gazed longingly at the #RHONY fashionista’s gorgeous mane, read this before heading to the salon.

New York-based stylist and salon owner Jeff Chastain, who styles the hair of Real Housewives of New York Citys Kristen Taekman and Odd Mom Out’s Alice Callahan, told The Daily Dish about his tips for how to rock the season’s hottest hair looks just like his star clients. And the good news is that the season's go-to chop is a fun, flexible style you can totally try at home.

How to Watch

Off the bat, Chastain says that short bobs are a major fall hair trend, and also a versatile ‘do to take from fierce to frisky depending on the occasion. To get the look, go for a cut that’s “just barely under the chin in the front and up to the hairline in the back,” he says. The shape “can be ironed into a sleek, sophisticated look or curled into a tossled, bouncy, playful style,” he says. “Very versatile styling!”

For Taekman, Chastain has created numerous versions of the chin-length bob, all of which he says “she has rocked.” (Of course!) But lately, the stylist has updated Taekman's look with a twist: “We have been doing this completely off-the-face look, almost wet looking to showcase a bolder eye and contoured cheekbone.” The result, he says, is “super sexy and confident!”

To that end, he says that piece-y and even wet looks are right on trend for fall — and achieving them is all about finding the right products. “Slick it back using a cream or sea salt spray,” he says. “Don’t be shy about products!”

Anti-humidity products can also help save you from the shoulder season, as the heat of summer persists even with fall styles taking over fashion and beauty looks. “Smoothing blowout spray applied to wet hair [before heat styling] will stop that frizz from reappearing, even when it's brutally sticky out,” he says.

With Callahan, who is a client and old friend of the stylist, Chastain uses the blowout spray before rough drying to tame it down and combat any frizz in lingering heat and humidity. “She has a beautiful mane of thick blonde hair,” he says. “[Smoothing spray] helps tremendously with hair swelling!”
