Lisa Vanderpump Has Some Thoughts About James Kennedy's Music Career

The SUR boss weighs in on the DJ's future.

By Jocelyn Vena

Have you ever wanted to party with Bravolebs? Well, our digital series, Bravo After Hours, offers viewers the opportunity to paint the town red with some of our very own, as well as host and Everybody Curses, I Swear! author Carrie Keagan. So get ready to party like a topman because she's out and about with James Kennedy.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

James Kennedy isn't exactly the man we first met on Vanderpump Rules. These days, he's more likely to take a shot with Jax Taylor than take a shot at him. And, as he shared in Season 2 of Bravo After Hours (episode above), he feels like he's grown up quite a lot since he first popped up on the scene at SUR.

When the Daily Dish caught up with his boss, Lisa Vanderpump, this week, she shared her take on James' evolution. "I have [seen him grow up], but he's not there yet," she said. "And he puts on this kind of bravado of "Well, yeah, well I've grown up and I've done this' — and then he'll be two steps forward, one step back. So I'm saying not one step forward, two steps back — two steps forward. Really, he is. And then he makes a stupid mistake. What he has to learn is sometimes you have to shut up. Sometimes you have to walk away because sometimes people want to provoke you. You have to know when to rise above. He's got to learn that."

As you can see in the episode above, James is definitely working hard in the studio and Lisa has some advice for him as he looks to take his music career to the next level. "I hope that he uses this as a vehicle to where he wants," she said. "But you've got to be smart. You've got to look at where you're going and figure out to get there."
