Meghan King Edmonds Jets Off to Cambodia to Celebrate Birthday

The #RHOC wife has found one unique way to turn 31.

Some people might head to Vegas to celebrate their birthday, but not Meghan King Edmonds. The Real Housewives of Orange County #CoolStepmom decided to do something a little more spiritual as she turns 31. And she has a very specific game plan for her trip to Cambodia: "I plan to seek peace, learn about the culture, bring awareness and help children trafficked into slavery. What a birthday gift!" Judging by her selfie with a giant buddha statue, she's off to a good start.

I've arrived in Cambodia and immediately I was drawn to tears by the beautiful geography. I can't believe I have lived 31 years (today!) and have not have even thought to have experienced this side of the world. Meghan also made time for popping bottles, eating cake by the pool, and taking in all the sights the country has to offer.

#Miss31YearOld is having the birthday of a lifetime! Not only is @raffles_phnompenh spoiling the patootie outta me, but I get to be in one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Plus! I get to celebrate my birthday for two days! Who else can say they've arrived to a brand new continent on their actual birthday (no one I know) - crazy to write 9/26 without 1984 after it! (Had to write 9/26/2015 a bunch of times on visas today). Am I one lucky duck or what?!

In addition to lighthearted activities, Meghan was moved by the locals. "What a sight to see. This brought tears to my eyes. The child begging at the car, dirty clothes, no shoes, darting through traffic as a couple of the kids watch the brand new Rolls Royce drive past them and a mother breast feeds. The poverty is devastating and heart-wrenching," she wrote on Instagram. "Be thankful for what you have and share what you can including your spirit."

She also made time for a worthy cause by meeting with survivors of the sex trafficking trade at their safe house. She described the experience as a "tragically beautiful scene." You can read more about it, below.

I've been so touched an honored to have spent the day with survivors of sex trafficking. The girls put on a show of traditional Cambodian dance and they declared a national holiday in order to preform for us! We took a tour of their safe house complete with guards and barbed-wire and met girls ranging in age from 4-17 , some of whom have been there for ten years after being rescued out of sex slavery. Several young girls are terminally damaged physically and mentally by the cruelty they endured and many more do not know how to love or accept love. They are being rehabilited and making progress and to hear they are loved is the most precious words to their ears. Most don't know their birthdays and are afraid of being sold again by their own mothers and fathers. However the success stories of AIM Missions are changing not only the face of sex trafficking in Cambodia but also the future for survivors. ðIt's a tragically beautiful scene.ðIncredible.
