Meghan Markle Has Left Suits — But a New Famous Face Is Joining The Cast

Former Suits actress Meghan Markle has big plans on the horizon — but none of them include reprising her role as lawyer Rachel Zane in the USA Network series. Markle's former costar Patrick J. Adams will also leave the show. So, while Markle takes on royal duties and Adams tackles new roles, a new actress will step in to fill the void left by their exits. And (here's your hint!) that actress will look familiar to all Grey's Anatomy fans ...

Ready for the big news? Katherine Heigl will join the Suits cast as a series regular in its eighth season! The actress will play a new partner at the fictional law firm Pearson Specter Litt, and rumor has it that her character — whose name is Samantha Wheeler — will challenge the firm's status quo. 

In a statement, Heigl said, "Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an [executive producer] I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of. I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family." 

Show creator Aaron Korsh also weighed in on the cast addition. "On behalf of the entire Suits team, I am extraordinarily excited to welcome Katherine Heigl into our family — I have always been a big fan of her work and was delighted to discover she was an avid Suits fan herself,” he said. “I cannot wait to have her come play with our entire cast and crew."
