Katie Maloney Shares Her Surprising Shaving Cream Recipe

The 'Vanderpump Rules' star has a wild at-home remedies—find out what it is.

When it comes to beauty, sometimes you just have to take things into your own hands.

That's why Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney (and friend Jennifer) created Pucker and Pout, a blog dedicated to dishing their highly coveted top-secret tips. "I always have little tips and tricks up my sleeves," she explains to Glamour. "My friends come to me to ask if I can do their hair, or what kind of mascara I recommend. I thought it'd be great to do something as a creative outlet."

And creative is a very fitting word to describe some of Katie's tricks. Most interesting? Her recipe for DIY shave gel (yes, you read that correctly). "It's olive oil and aloe vera gel. You just whip it up and it works as well as any other product you can find," she explains. On a little more of the conventional side, she also offers up a recipe for an at-home lip scrub. "You can do a lip scrub with sugar and olive or avocado oil and some lemon." Fun!

One reason why Katie's started to take beauty a little more seriously? Watching herself weekly on TV. "Those cameras will pick up everything. High-def is nobody's friend," she shares. More often than not she's realized that less is sometimes more, with both her hair and makeup. "I've learned to keep it really simple, whether it's just straightening my hair or putting a loose wave in it. As far as makeup, it's about keeping it very simple because too much can look muddy."

But the upside has been being taught by the very best—the immaculate Lisa Vanderpump. "She looks flawless all the time, and I want to know what her secrets are, what she's always done since she was younger," she gushes.

Although we might have to wait a bit until there's an official Katie Maloney-Lisa Vanderpump collaboration on Pucker and Pout, Katie does share a simple tip that the #PumpRules Ruler has passed on. "The only thing I've really learned from her is to always look your best," she says. "It's not about being dressed to the nines, but take pride in yourself and make yourself look great. It's easy to go to the grocery store with no makeup and your sweatpants, but just a little bit of effort goes a long way."
