Padma Lakshmi Was BFFs with Chrissy Teigen Way Before Her Top Chef Cameo

Chrissy Teigen is many things: supermodel, talk show host, foodie, mom-to-be, and, of course, a Bravo super-super-superfan. So, when it came time for her to stop by Top Chef this season, she definitely brought all that energy to the kitchen. But, you see, long before she was hanging with the Cheftestants in California, she was already booking hangout sessions with host Padma Lakshmi. Not that we're jealous, or anything.

"I mean she's a very effusive girl and I met her before [she filmed her cameo]. She's married to a friend of mine [John Legend], and they came over to my house," Padma told The Daily Dish. "And she's just so much fun and such a bundle of energy, that it was really great to have her on the show. The chefs were hugely excited, and I think she's a lovely girl who's gonna go far. She's publishing her first cookbook, and it's wonderful to see how the show has inspired people like her. I don't think she would be publishing a book now if she hadn't been so inspired by Top Chef also."

Speaking of which, following her Top Chef appearance, the Lip Sync Battle co-host and foodie will release her cookbook, Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat, in February. But that wasn't really the topic of discussion during the taping. "We've spoke about it a lot off camera, so I'm already friendly with her in my own time. So it was really nice to have a friend on set, more it was like having someone visit you at work," Padma added.
