Rachel Maddow: Michele Bachmann Scares Me
Plus: the pundit reveals her secret political crush on 'WWHL.'
Every night on her MSNBC show, Rachel Maddow breaks down the major political issues facing us today with a lot of good humor. But on last night's Watch What Happens Live after show, a call-in viewer wanted to know which of the politicians she follows regularly gives her hope, and who scares her to death.
"I am going to tell you my secret politician crush, which I've never talked about publically before: Sheldon Whitehouse," Maddow reveals, joking, "His name is Whitehouse and he's a politician—how is that possible!"
So who exactly the man who has captured Maddow's heart? "He's a senator from Rhode Island and he's the most low-key guy in the world. Nobody knows who he is and he's always sort of quietly plotting along, doing the right thing, being smart and thinking big thoughts.
"He won't come on my show," she adds. "This won't help."
As for the public figure who gives her a solid scare, Maddow explains, "I know this is a little bit of cliché, but Michele Bachmann did a very long, detailed interview this week about the way in which we are at the end of the world. And how it's not just that we are in the end times, but she's got multiple confirming sources about how we're at the end times. And that this is an occasion to rejoice, and she's legislating appropriately."
Maddow says if that's what the Minnesota rep wants to do privately, she'd be cool with it, but "If that's what you're doing every day at work, is taking care of the end of the world, which you're psyched about…."
Watch Rachel Maddow admit that Michele Bachmann scares her and tell us in the comments: which politician freaks you out the most?
