He's back! Ryan Seacrest confirmed on Thursday that he'll be in the hosting saddle again for the upcoming reboot of American Idol. The former — and, well, now current — American Idol host will join judge Katy Perry on the ABC version of the series, which will launch at a still-unannounced date.

“It’s genuinely hard to put into words what American Idol means to me,” he said in a statement, via TV Line. “I’m so grateful for the show and all the career and life opportunities it’s allowed me to experience. It’s been an incredible journey from day one. To be asked to return this year, at my new home at ABC, is an honor, if not a bit surreal. I believe ABC is the perfect home for Idol, and I’ve every confidence the show’s legions of fans will love it – especially Idol‘s best traditions of showcasing heartwarming stories, remarkable talent discovery, and, best of all, making dreams come true.”

Ryan also addressed the big news on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan (video below). He took over as co-host on that show earlier this summer.

Just as the big (and, frankly, not that unexpected) news broke, Katy congratulated Ryan on resurrecting his role on the series (expected to launch in spring 2018), via Twitter.
