Scheana Shay Reveals Why She and Lala Kent Became Friends Again

We've only seen Part 1 of the Vanderpump Rules reunion, and already we've gotten a few major shockers. One of which came thanks to Lala Kent, who surprised many of the members of the Vanderpump Rules crew with her unexpected arrival at the sit-down.

How to Watch

Of course, Lala has been one of the most polarizing SURvers this season of Vanderpump Rules. In particular, Scheana Shay's friendship with Lala ruffled some feathers early on, and she eventually stopped hanging out with the hostess at the request of Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Stassi Schroeder, and Kristen Doute.

But now Scheana said she wishes she hadn't walked away from their friendship like that. "With Lala, I do regret the way I treated her last summer because she didn't deserve it. I mean, us getting so involved in her personal life was beyond out of line," Scheana recently told The Daily Dish. "We didn't know the situation she was in."

Scheana explained that she initially joined in the rumors about Lala's boyfriend because it was a way to escape her own marital issues with then-husband Mike Shay. "I think for me it was the distraction I needed at the time because my relationship wasn't in a good place. He wasn't coming home, he was always at the studio, I never saw him," Scheana said. "It was just like, 'Ooh, here's a little project.' We're gonna find out about this and that. And it was oddly something I was bonding with the girls over. But then once I took a step back and we're five, six weeks into filming, I'm like, this is stupid. Why are we so involved in her personal life? Like, I get it. We're on a show where we talk about our personal lives, but it was just crossing a line, I felt."

So Scheana eventually decided to patch things up with Lala. "We've had several conversations where I'm like, 'I was wrong, and I'm so sorry for treating you that way.' She's someone I always liked, I always clicked with, and I decided around the holidays just to be like, you know what, screw it. I like her, I want to be friends with her," Scheana shared. "And she texted me on Christmas. We had a conversation on Christmas, and we hung out a few weeks later and again and again. We're neighbors. We work out together. I'm just glad that she was able to forgive me, and I was able to forgive her for some inappropriate comments she made about my family and things with Shay. But it's all water under the bridge, and her and I are in a great place. We talk almost every day."

The Vanderpump Rules SURver said she was happy to see Lala at the reunion. "I love having Lala there, because her and I had recently started hanging out again, so that was a nice surprise," Scheana said.

A Very Unexpected Apology

What was even more surprising for Scheana was when Katie and Lala showed remorse for how they treated one another this season and even seemed to come to a resolution at the end of Part 1 of the reunion. "When Katie apologized to Lala, Ariana and I, there were several moments when we grabbed each other and were like, 'Oh my God! What is happening right now? This is insane!'" Scheana said. "I was just like, 'So wait, you're genuinely apologizing. You're not just saying that because you looked really bad this season, and you've gotten a lot of crap on social media. You genuinely mean this.' And it was not something I expected. That was the first time in a very long time I've seen Katie take accountability, and I really appreciated that, and I felt Lala deserved it."

On the flip side, Scheana said she also thought Katie deserved to receive an apology from Lala. "Lala said some very hurtful things, but I know her, and I know that's just her defense mechanism. She's not this hardcore, badass chick — I mean, she's badass but in a different way. She was really hurt. She was trying to be nice for someone being so mean to her, so that was the way she fought back with insults and it wasn't right. And she owned it, she took accountability, and she apologized. And then Katie was still calling her a whore," Scheana said. "So the fact that they could both come to an understanding, I don't know how long it's gonna last for, but it was a really nice moment to see between the two of them."

We'll see more from Lala when Part 2 of the Vanderpump Rules reunion airs next Monday at 8/7c. Take a look at the drama to come, below.
