Shep Rose Is Considering Getting a Dog to Help Him Settle Down

The Southern Charm bachelor may have found the perfect step to get him to commit to romance.

When it comes to settling down, everyone has an opinion about if and when Shep Rose may ever be ready to take the plunge. We even watched him try and find that special someone on Relationshep. And it was definitely a topic that came up when he popped by the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Clubhouse this week.

"Where do you see myself when? Oh, the old five-year plan," he pondered when a caller asked if he's ready at all to get serious with someone, before revealing if, in fact, he is ready at all to "settle down" with the right lady and even chatted about his feelings regarding kids, in the video above. And his pal, Dale Earnhardt Jr., even offered up the Southern Charm bachelor some very important romantic advice.

When The Daily Dish caught up with Shep earlier this season, he elaborated a bit more on the one thing he's considering to see if he might be at a place in his life to really commit to a romance.

"I mean, I would say that without overstating some major changes I've made in myself, which I don't think anybody should really do — I think incremental, change should be incremental usually, but I'm doing better. Or, I'm doing well. I'm staying out at the beach, a lot. I go downtown every now and then. When I go downtown, it's like, I remember why I live out on the beach, basically. I'm thinking about getting a dog, actually. Yeah, wouldn't that be cool, maybe? But I'd need a lot of help because I travel so much and this and that. But I think I have friends that could help out. That's what I'm thinking about. We'll see. I'm not going to get a dog to make myself a better person. But I'm not gonna say that I don't think it will make me a better person 'cause I think it will. I think if you have something you're responsible for, you sort of get a new perspective on life."

And while his family has ties to the Boykin Spaniel breed of dog, Shep has his eye on a different breed. "I really want a French bulldog," he said. "I think they're really funny and weird and they sleep a lot. I need a lazy dog 'cause I'm lazy too," he said. "And so that would be my first choice."

However, he's not that hung up on the breed and would consider others, as long as they have similar lifestyles. "As long as I don't have to wake up at 6 A.M. and let him out, or her," he said, adding, "Maybe I will get a rescue and a little older one."
