Are Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif Ready to Take Their Bromance to the Next Level?

The #Botched doctors explain how Season 3 of their E! show is kicking things up a notch.

By Jocelyn Vena

When Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif head back to the operating room for Botched this week, the longtime pals and plastic surgeons will face some of the "hardest cases" they've ever done in their career, Paul told The Daily Dish"This season is way way different. It's a complete pradigm shift for us... even more extreme, more difficult, riskier," Terry added. "We're presented with the challenge of figuring out [how to help] now that we have this incredible life-changing experience [of being on the show], and we've learned how to do things that we couldn't do before. Where does this go? Can we use some of those newly obtained skills doing impossible surgery to now help people who are impossible?"

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

Season 3 of the E! reality show focuses on the duo trying to assist patients who are in desperate need of the good doctors' plastic surgery expertise. Paul described this season as "very, very raw and very intense," which is clear from the season premiere (Tuesday, May 10) as the duo attempts to help returning patient Rajee, who had had concrete fillers injected into her face and previously met with the doctors in Season 2.

In addition to Terry and Paul meeting Rajee, they also work with several other familiar faces, including Here Comes Honey Boo Boo's Mama June, who Paul described as a "very gracious, very sweet lady." Prior to her death last month, former pro wrestler Joanie "Chyna" Laurer shot an episode of the series, though it has not been announced if her footage will air. Paul noted that Chyna was at a "great point in her life" during the shoot. "She looked great. It was a joy to work with her and she was very, very sweet," he explained. "I know things are pending and, obviously the network will see what to do in regards to all this stuff. It's so active right now. It's a tough thing."

What is certain is the fact that viewers will be treated to some unusual cases right from the get-go, including Vinny, who came to the guys hoping to be transformed into an alien. "It is kind one of the weirdest ones we've ever seen. Somebody wants to look like an alien and then they want to be different and special," Paul said, before making a joke at his partner's expense "I mean the worst one would be somebody coming in and saying 'I want to look like Dr. Dubrow.'"

Terry added that Vinny's request is definitely "on the extreme" side of what they typically see. "That individual didn't want to look like a woman or a man, he wanted to look androgynous. Not even really androgynous, [he wanted] no identifiable sex at all. That was very weird and he wanted plastic surgery in order to achieve that goal. There's no textbooks where you can look up surgery on aliens. You just have to go to your childhood memories of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and movies."

If Botched and the return of its Heather Dubrow-hosted after show, Botched Post Op, isn't enough to satisfy your craving for all things Dr. Paul and The Real Housewives of Orange County husband Dr. Terry, the guys also teamed up for a spin-off, Botched by Nature, which will premiere at a later date.

"It's an incredible show 'cause we're traveling across the country to see patients who have congenial deformities and trauma and other types of accidents," Paul said. "The biggest part of that is when you go to someone's home and town and you see them — it's a complete different experience, emotional. I think it's the best part for Terry and I; we have fun. You get to see more of our bromance together. We've been friends for years, but going out and doing this, it added to our friendship."

Terry couldn't help but agree. "We now have an even a deeper level to our bromance. We've been friends for a long time, but we've never, like, roomed together or went on a multiple city tour to help people who are disadvantaged by nature," he said. "Now I know things that I never knew before about this man monkey that is Paul Nassif. There are images indelibly printed in my brain that I can never ever unsee."
