Sonja Morgan Shares What's Next for Luann de Lesseps After She Returns from Rehab

Find out what the future holds for The Real Housewives of New York City cabaret performer.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Luann de Lesseps may have had a rocky past year, but as they say, the show must go on. Following her arrest and 21-day stay in rehab, Luann picked herself up, dusted herself off, and channeled all of her energy into a new cabaret show, #CountessAndFriends, which she has performed all over the East and West Coasts.

Unfortunately, Luann hit another roadblock earlier this month when she checked herself back into rehab, leaving the fate of her already-scheduled and future cabaret show dates uncertain. But her good friend and sometimes-duet partner Sonja Morgan said that we should expect to see Luann back onstage in no time. "Oh, the cabaret goes on!" Sonja told The Daily Dish while prepping for The Real Housewives of New York City Season 10 reunion (clip above). "And I'm looking forward to performing with her again in the future."

In addition to their spa trips and yoga retreats over the past few months, Sonja said that she and Luann have gotten closer through rehearsing and performing together. "[I] really, really enjoy it," Sonja said. "Something that we've bonded with since the beginning socially is to just sidle up to that piano and belt out the tunes. She can be impromptu with the Broadway hits, and I like to do my sing-song skits, so it's nice."

Sonja praised the way Luann has taken responsibility for her mistakes during this difficult year. "I know I feel very positively about her recovery, what she's been doing. She's been totally up front, vulnerable, owning it, working on it, not playing victim. She's mapped out the steps that she took to get where she is, but I don't think she's ever said, 'Oh, it's not my fault,'" Sonja said. "She's always said, 'This is what happened, and I need to correct it.' So I think that's the No.1 step to getting better."

Sonja told The Daily Dish that it was "a blow" to hear that Luann was back in rehab last week. She also shared that not having Luann and her support at the reunion taping was like "going in there without a limb."

However, Sonja said that she's "so glad" that Luann is taking the time out to focus on her health. "She's come so far already with self awareness and taking care of herself, her mind-body connection. She's had a lot on her plate with her cabaret and also with some family issues, just reconnecting with her family, her two children since splitting with Tom [D'Agostino], really mending fences, mending herself, re-bonding with me since Tom's gone to the wayside. So a lot of emotional goings-on. I don't know if that's the trigger; I'm just saying," Sonja explained. "I'm glad she's taking care of herself, foremost, because we're all gonna be here for her."

Luann provided some insight into how she's doing in rehab, sharing this inspirational message in her Instagram Story on Friday, July 20: "Never regret a day in your life: good days give happiness, bad days give experience, worst days give lessons, and best days give memories."
