Week by Bravo: New Bravo Shows, Joyce vs. Brandi

Plus: Kim and Kroy reveal a new business venture, Top Chef Extreme is coming to Bravo.

The biggest news in the Bravoverse this week? We unveiled first looks and all the details of our March slate of shows. Good news, for sure. But there was plenty of heated drama going on too. Joyce Giraud and Brandi Glanville's feud continued; Mama Joyce sounded off once more on why she's skeptical about Kandi and Todd's engagement, and more. Read on for all the news and gossip you may have missed this week.

New Shows for March
March Madness is coming to Bravo! We were thrilled to unveil details of five new and returning shows this spring—and share first looks. What's coming up? Southern Charm (that's a picture of the cast above), Online Dating Rituals of the American Male, Flipping Out, the People's Couch and (as previously announced) the sixth season of RHONY. Get full details on our new slate here.

Joyce Slams Brandi
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Joyce Giraud is proud of her amazing body—but don't caller her anorexic. This week, she gave an interview slamming Brandi Glanville's seeming taunts that she had an eating disorder. "It's disrespectful of Brandi to accuse me of such an ugly disease," she said, referring to Brandi's diss in her blog. (Brandi said she was "bothered" by Joyce's comment, "You can never be too thin.") So how does Joyce stay in such good shape? "I honestly eat chocolate all day long," she says. "I do realize how blessed I am to be able to eat what I want and not have to live in the gym."

Kim and Kroy Are Flipping Houses
They've got plenty of kids—six!—already, but Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann aren't slowing down. The mother of newborn twins revealed their plans for a new business venture: they're going to flip houses. They stumbled upon the plan after a fun experience renovating their new home. "I feel like we're really good at it," Kim said.

Caroline Reveals How Much She Weighs
Speaking of healthier living, Caroline Manzo has vowed to drop some pounds this year. But she's not relying on fad diets or health supplements. Instead, the former RHONJ star, who admitted she weighs 148.5 pounds, is watching her portions and hitting the gym. And so far she's lost three pounds!

Joanna Krupa: I'm Freezing My Eggs!
Joanna Krupa and Romain Zago have admitted they're eager to start a family. But now the RHOM star may be taking first steps to ensure that can definitely happen. She opened up about plans to freeze her eggs "in the next month or two." She's making such a decision because, she says, "I'm still focused on other things that it's just really hard, and I don't want to take it away from being a mother."

Read on for news about our new Top Chef franchise, our Golden Globes fashion recap, the latest on Mama Joyce's feud with Kandi and more.

Top Chef Extreme Is Coming to Bravo!
We were thrilled to announce a new edition of Top Chef is coming to Bravo this summer. Top Chef Extreme will bring past Cheftestants back into the kitchen for the ultimate foodie throwdown. What's up for grabs, aside from the grand prize? Bragging rights for the title of Ultimate Top Chef.

Golden Globes: the Best and Worst Dressed
We've got plenty of style experts in the Bravoverse so naturally we called upon them to weigh in the the best (and worst) dressed stars from this year's Golden Globes. Not surprisingly: Lupita N'yongo was a unanimous favorite, but Bevy Smith, Stassi Schroeder, Lawrence Washington and others had plenty of harsh criticism for some other celebs.

Mama Joyce Sounds Off on Todd Tucker
In an interview this week, Kandi Burruss' opinionated mother Mama Joyce opened up about her feelings about fiancé Todd Tucker. Sure, she's still not entirely supportive of their upcoming marriage—Joyce believes rumors that Todd was unfaithful—but she's trying to remain optimistic. "[Kandi and I] are in a very good place...I pray and hope that I'm wrong about Todd."

Meet RHONY's New Househusband
He's a devoted dad, a successful entrepreneur...and pals with Diddy! We got the inside scoop on new Housewife Kristen Taekman's husband Josh. Can't wait until March to see him on the small screen? Get all the deets on him here.

Padma Opens Up About Her Childhood in India

The 'Top Chef' host reveals what she learned about food across the globe.

Growing up, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi learned a lot from her family about food and cooking. She spent part of her childhood living with her grandparents and extended relatives in India. Now, she's opening up about what her life was like halfway around the world—and how she adapted to life in the U.S.

Padma lived in Chennai, India, a beach town with her relatives, but also grew up with her mother in New York City. "I became used to shuttling back and forth between two homes and cultures, but being the new girl in school all the time wasn't easy," she writes in an essay for the Wall Street Journal.

When she eventually moved to the Big Apple on a more permanent basis in 1979, she "adapted quickly," she notes in the essay.

"In New York, I'd roller-skate all over town," she recalls. "Even though I was vegetarian, I found I had lots of options—pizza and soda for under a dollar, a bagel with a half-pound of cream cheese on it for 50 cents, or a pretzel for a quarter. It was the early '80s and I was pretty independent. Mom cooked spicy vegetarian Indian food at home, which I loved. At my grandmother's house, I'd climb the painted concrete shelves of her pantry to search out the hottest pickles at the top."

Everything I learned in the kitchen I learned from my grandmother or other women in my family.

Padma Lakshmi

In the summers, she would still visit her family in India. "Everything I learned in the kitchen I learned from my grandmother or other women in my family," she adds.

And even now, when she returns to India, she feels like a little kid, she says in the piece.

"I've never lived there as an adult, so I revert to a childlike state whenever I return," she writes. "When I shop, I linger at every stall, and I visit the local Hindu temple and stop off at the beach. This isn't nostalgia. I truly feel at peace there, where no one cares about what I do in the States. In India I'm a nondescript person. They know I live in New York and that I'm famous for something. But they mostly still see a kid in her school uniform running to catch the bus."
