And now, the star is pairing his passion with a charitable cause for an inventive — and seriously delicious — new partnership.
At an event just before the holiday weekend, Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills and Flagg unveiled an intricate chocolate replica of the hotel — a first of its kind.
The confection includes 200 hotel rooms and 20 gingerbread mansions painstakingly handcrafted by the hotel’s executive pastry chef Federico Fernandez (pictured above with Flagg). The whole undertaking took several weeks to complete.
In our book, when you combine a top-end hotel with a massive amount of chocolate and fan-favorite Flagg… you already have a winning concept.
But the project gets better: The entire hotel and all the gingerbread mansions will be sold to raise funds for the Toys for Tots Foundation during the holiday season.
Here’s how it works: Entities who are interested in sponsoring the project can opt to “reserve a room” at the chocolate hotel for a charitable donation of $550. When they do, they become eligible to display their names on candy flags, which will each be placed on one of the chocolate hotel room’s balconies. Those with deeper pockets can sponsor a gingerbread mansion for a donation of $5,000 each.
“When we first conceived the idea of building an over-the-top chocolate and gingerbread hotel and selling off confectionary real estate to raise money for Toys for Tots, we knew we had to enlist a superstar agent,” the hotel’s general manager Michael Newcombe said in a release. Naturally! He said that the first call went out to Flagg, who was “gracious” in his offer to support the cause.
Flagg himself called the luxe property his “favorite local hotel.” (That's the Million Dollar Listing L.A. stars with pastry chef Fernandez and hotel General Manager Michael Newcombe.)
The property is a major destination for both out of towers and L.A. locals, especially in the entertainment biz. For instance, it’s restaurant, Culina, Modern Italian, is a serious power lunch spot. And the Windows Lounge is all about see-and-be-seen scenery.
The chocolate replica stands on display in the hotel’s lobby since Thanksgiving Day, and will remain on view through January 1.
