Would Lisa Rinna Return to Soaps?

The actress says Housewives is like "'Melrose Place' on steroids."

By Sarv Kreindler

It really seems like Lisa Rinna has done it all. The actress, who initially shot to fame on Days of Our Lives, has starred in a load of hit TV shows and movies, hosted a variety of talk shows including SoapTalk, and tried her hand at reality television with stints on Celebrity Apprentice and now The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But would she ever consider going back to her soap opera roots?

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and the Bravo App.

"Absolutely!” she tells Soap Opera Digest. "I love the soap world. You know I do. It's where I come from."

And, as it turns out, Lisa doesn't think a soap stint would be too far removed from filming RHOBH. "It’s like doing Melrose Place on steroids. Now, that says a lot because Melrose is one of the craziest shows ever to have been made, and I'm now doing a show that is testing that," she says. "You take that as you will!”

Lisa reveals that although her experience on RHOBH has been challenging, it's also ultimately been very positive. "Going into a show like this, I was like, ‘Okay, I'm gonna stay grounded. I'm not gonna react. I'm gonna be kind and graceful,'" she recalls. "My motto has always been, 'If you're not having fun, don't do it,' and I’m having fun. As challenging as housewives can be in certain moments, for the most part, I have had a blast. We laugh so hard.”

The veteran actress is also grateful for her long career in show biz. "I think I've been really lucky, and I think that you always have to be open, because obviously as you get older, as women and as an actor, these jobs become very few and far between," she reflects. "I think I've been so lucky to continue to reinvent myself and do all these different things. And I'll just keep going. That’s the beauty of this business—you don’t have to retire. You can continue to work until your last breath."
