Iman

Iman discusses her theory on accessories, her favorite pieces, and sending Eduardo home.

on Jan 10, 20110

Bravo: This week's episode was inspired by accessories. Do you have any super special pieces you love to wear? Anything really special you've worn in the past that springs to mind?

Iman: Philip Treacy hats. Years ago I presented an award to him at Fashion Group International and he created this fab hat for me to wear that was the epitome of "eccentric" glamor.

Bravo: Do you believe in the Chanel adage to always take one item off, or do you think sometimes, for an eccentric look more can be more?

Iman: Definitely more can be more, sometimes, but you have to have a sure hand and the confidence to commit to wearing an outfit however outrageous...think of Daphne Guinness.

Bravo: We're obviously huge fans of Simon Doonan's here, and remembered this lovely window display he made on you last year in celebration of your 2010 CFDA Fashion Icon Award. Tell us a bit about how it was working with him again on this episode, and what he brought to the table?

Iman: I adore Simon, and the genius that he is we thought he would make a great judge and we were so lucky as he inspired the designers so much that they have created their best looks so far. He thinks out of the box and inspired the designers to think the same way. And by giving them the permission to do so it elevated their game, which was definitely a game changer.

I will do this is not a fashion design competition it's a drama queen competition and so far Calvin is winning. Good-bye for me too.

I just watched the January 18th episode of the Fashion Show. Iman and judges I think you made a BIG mistake. There is no way you, Iman would be caught dead in any of those clothes that you chose from the House of Nami. Clearly that collection looked like Calvin and Co. took alot of material and wrapped and tucked it around those models. There was no shape and very bad taste in those designs, except for the white outfit. I don't know of anyone with any kind of taste that would wear any of those clothes. Just because it's "different", doesn't make it couture. THAT WAS A "HOT MESS!" It looked worse than homeless people clothing. I think the House of Emerald should have won. They were robbed!!!!!!

I can't believe that the judges let Eduardo go...Eduardo had the best showing and always on the top 2 or 3 of each challenge. If his designs where repetitive, how come the judges made him win 3 times and become the top 2 6-7 times. The only time that he doesn't deliver is with a challenge of making 2 dresses in 1 day...Obviously you judges are the "experts" with regards to fashion, however, fashion is not conceptualized in 1 day given the extreme pressure and workload these contestants are given. Eduardo was the best among these designers and it is a pity that someone like Calvin whose talent is very mediocre is rewarded...

Obviously, the judges will not admit to making a mistake in letting Eduardo go and justify their decisions...

You should change you show title to FASHION SHOW - MEDIOCRE COLLECTION...

The judges has totally lost their credibility and I've lost my desire to watch this show after this wrong decision in letting the best designer go...

I agree w/ Pedro 100%!!! I can't believe Iman and Isaac let Eduardo go and Calvin stay. It's obvious to me that a guy w/ a terrible attitude, no talent, no friends on the show, and NO WINS gets to stay, is a sorry decision by the judges to keep their show afloat. This show is no longer about talented designers w/out Eduardo. Therefore, I too, will no longer watch!!

hi iman, i love your show but i have a suggestion that might improve the way the designers designs look..most designers dont have sewing skills so even if their concept is beautiful their interpretation may be flawed due to poor stitching...just a thought ..if these dressmakers are still available look for the union label and hire some professional seamstresses to help out it would give a better look to their designs and free the designers more time to critique their designs

Iman, please explain why you say Eduardo does the same look every week. Do you remember first Challenge( white cocktail dress)No Ruffles, 2nd Challenge (Body Exhibit) no ruffles, futuristic plaid challenge( no ruffles), Lost and Found Episode ( No Ruffles), Wedding dress( No Ruffles) and Fem Fatale had a Collar but it was not a ruffle. If you wanted him off the show then fine, but please do not make up reasons. Oh and you did make a mistake sweetie

I have been an avid fan of the show and thought the judges were always very fair in their comments. I look forward every week to see what else is in store in the way of fashion. I don't really enjoy the drama but understand the need for it. This week however in my opinion was a joke. Eduardo was the one that I most enjoyed. I believe he has real talent and winning so many challenges proved it.Even Calvin was surprised he didn't get the boot. I know that I am only (ONE) fan but I will not be watching the show again. Calvin is a clown and that I suppose is what you are looking for. I could care less who wins the so called Fashion Show. Bravo, Bring back Project Runway at least they portray a fair game.

Ouch.
Ouch.

I've been loving the Fashion Show, but I really feel that Calvin has been skating by for weeks now. Despite panning Eduardo in the most recent episode, he's racked up the most wins - so obviously, he was doing something right.

I'm bored with these reality competitions that reward mediocrity by allowing contenstants to get by on not being the worst - often outlasting those who have proven themselves to be the best on many occasions.

It leaves me feeling like some people - like Calvin - are just kept around for the drama factor. Further, after editing him as being the villain throughout the season, suddenly, he's potrayed as likeable and vulnerable. Reminds me of the season of top chef where Hung was portrayed all season long as a villain and a bit of a cheat, until the finale - when it was clear he was going to win and they tried desperately to paint him as likeable.

This is less a comment on the contestants themselves, and more on how this reality competition format is getting tired - and out of fashion.

Good-bye, darling.

Now that Calvin is more humanized and is not as arrogant and egocentric, he actually has great designs. No he does not listen to the client. His social skills are limited at best. But when he finally confessed what is really going on in his life and what he would do with the prize money, Calvin became human and has feelings and feels pain. Now maybe he can start designing from his heart and soul and not from his pseudo-bravado. Like last season when Mondo finally came out with his HIV status…his whole demeanor changed and his artistic flair (which I love) personified who he truly is. Calvin is a bit late in his blossoming because Dominique is overshadowing his talent but at least I can now watch Calvin and NOT cringe at his antics. Dominique is very talented and I love her whimsy. You go girl. Go with your instincts and wow me again. The Pig coat was interesting and not flattering but Eduardo just cannot do anything except ruffles (beautifully executed ruffles) but still a “one-trick pony.”

Calvin stays? Really? This is where I stop watching

I don't like his designs nor his attitude.
