I finally won a Mini Challenge, and now I wish I hadn’t. Worst prize ever for winning! Hey guess what? Congrats on being a great illustrator and having a good eye for detail. Now you get to make enemies and tell everyone who you don’t like while the judges still eliminate whoever they want to — lucky you. And I think me winning the main challenge is proof that I don’t need such a prize to eliminate the competition. Each challenge I get more and more confident that I can win this entire competition, and yet each new challenge I am more anxious than the last.
Especially this challenge, I felt out of my element. I’ve done this before when I was a guest designer on a show called Trinny and Sussanah in London. But I felt I had more riding on this project and came back to the studio and no ideas. And everyone rolls their eyes at me and complains that I voice my nerves about the challenge, but the fact is I do doubt myself sometimes and that’s what makes me a good designer … the fact that I always question my work and push myself to refine my eye. I would never create something that I don’t agree with; it’s just not always entirely developed to a point I am happy with.
Anyway, in the end I felt I came to a great compromise and Tarren looked fabulous. So Tarren, if you’re reading this: Start dressing like the way I styled you!
P.S. I miss Keith a lot already.
My comments never appear on Bravo, but I hope you know you and Reco are smoking and the best of the whole bunch.
You were right on point to select Angel, for she is always, always late and never finishes her work; she always has sloppy hems and sloppy lines of jumbled cloth for designs! At first I thought you would be snooty, but you are actually very talented and do excellent work. You are and Reco are waaaay advanced above those other characters.
Please get Fashion Show hosts to explain to the audience why they even allowed people like John (who says he has technicians to build from his "designs"/actually drawings, and Jean-Paul with his large swatches of unformed fabric (described as architectural, we are not stupid) in the contest - who don't know how to make patterns, don't know how to sew, and don't know how to iron the puckers out of the cheesy fabrics they choose for their clothes! I am stunned at the low quality of things that end up on that runway. I would be embarrassed if I were Kelly or Isaac! Most of those clothes the others have made, I would rip up and make rags to dust my furniture!
I think you and Reco should move over to Project Runway, where the people don't just draw pictures and call them designs - they know how to build the clothing, and they know how to select appropriate fabrics. Do they allow you all to go select fabric, or do you have to use some of the cheesy stuff we keep seeing on racks in a room?
It is horrible fabric, and Angel's 99c/yard dress was a prime example of cheap fabric with no substance. You do so great with selection of fabrics! I am a size 18, and I love your black and navy ensemble tonight - just a senior citizen, though, without the funds at this time...maybe at the end of the month.
God bless you and WIN, young lady!!!!!!!
Just finished watching tonights episode. Daniella, really you MUST STOP complaining about EVERYTHING. "He stole my design, I couldn't see the dress because of his head, she isn't giving me anything to work with..." you are a confident designer with great ideas. Just stop the whining and keep focused on what you REALLY want!
You need to watch yourself. You have talent, but could be nerve racking. Stop being so lacking in confidence, and do what you know with confidence. You stand a great chance, but change your attitude
Stop thinking you are not good enough because you are. Your designs are always among the best if not the best. Stop being so insecure and stop giving away your ideas... Do you want to lose or what....... You need to act more business like.....
I must say that after tonights show I am very disappointed with your reaction to sewing for real women. You designers(I use the word loosely)need to wake up and realize that real women are the ones that keep you designers working by buying you designs. the celeberities may get your name out there by purchasing a garment but the real people are the ones that keep you there.Be a real designer and learn to sew for different body types!!!!!
Daniella, after much consideration I have one more additional comment to my earlier posting. Have you considered that a large part of your win had to do with your model, Tarren's outstanding catwalk? Instead of you offering Tarren style advice I propose Tarren offers you some lessons on how to carry yourself with grace and humility, Miss"refined eye". Your outfit prevailed because the woman that wore it had the confidence in herself to pull it off! And I believe Keith lost because his model, as absolutely lovely as she was, looked uncomfortable and awkward on the catwalk. Make no mistake my dear your win is in fact Tarren's win.
Rock on Dani K!! Smoke these clowns... Your the only real designer on this show the rest of this lot is a bunch of casted clowns!!!!!!!
The way you were talking about your "real woman's body" was very disrespectful. Although you were so ready to congratulate yourself on her makeover after bashing her for the whole show. I look at you and think that you could lose a few pounds yourself so what is the big deal with designing for a "normal sized woman?" I loved it when Issac called you out as being size-ist boy was the ever true!
You are obviously extremely talented, but your comments about your client last night were stomach-turning. Questioning your work is one thing, insulting a lovely young woman is another. I can appreciate that your garments were well made, but I thought Tarren looked 10 years older in the outfit and styling on the runway than she did in her own clothes in the workroom. I for one hope she does not start dressing the way you styled her.
Hey guys! You don't need to be mean about my figure...of course I have made clothes for myself and had that in mind when designing for tarren...I'm very passionate about my work and just wanted to make her happy and look the best! Thanks patty..I appreciate your support!!!
Daniella, You are a very talented young woman. However, I think it was clear to Isaac, your fellow designers and everyone who watched the show last night that your attitude was a far greater obstacle in this challenge than my shape and size--which, ironically, is very similar to your own. And according to Kelly Rowland, bootylicious. All the best, Taren
I completely agree with the other comments made, you were very rude and arrogant when speaking about your 'model'. Most of the female population have curves and butts and busts and aren't walking hangers and want clothes to flatter them and to hear you speaking about being uninspired by your model was out of order. Yes you're talented but the attitude has to go. Also, sorry but Reco deserved to win last night. His outfit was outstanding!!
Yes, your makeover was wonderful after you spent alot of time insulting your client.
Because nothing says makeover better than making a woman look like Dr. Evil's assistant in Austin Powers.
I don't know what the judges see in you. You may be an okay designer, but your shopping audience arent all six feet tall and size zero. Come to think of it, neither are you.
And your constant sourpuss attitude isn't going to win you many clients if you insist upon insulting them.
Get over yourself, already.
That was a stupid prize for winning. I don't like the way these shows set people up like that. As for 'size-ist'...that was just stupid. Daniella wasn't making that big a deal about it....the guy jumped on it too soon and made it seem like she was. Daniella...you CAN win it all if you stay focused, and don't get caught up in the drama with other contestants. That distracts people on these kind of shows and I think causes them to stumble and get booted.
We're watching you in Baltimore, Daniella and we're really proud of you. Your talent is awesome and you're making things interesting by speaking your mind. You're not being disrespectful. You look great on the show and your designs are awesome! Brigid, Leila and Sarah
I can't blame you for being hesitant for designing for a larger woman... you can only make someone look so good on such a tight budget! Especially when the woman's body is less than perfect! Rock on girl I think you're a great designer!
I just hope your model for this week doesn't watch the episode, because I doubt she would appreciate the disparaging comments you made about her body. I guess it makes you look more the fool since her working of the outfit largely motivated your win.
really? are my eyes deceiving me? robin and "viewer" think Daniella looks big? hell-O b*****s! it's called layering! daniella was right - also, hell-o! didn't you notice that her subject was giving her absolutely NOTHING to work with in terms of feedback? seriously!
I Cant believe how you judge the average sized woman! People like you should not design or even ever get the opportunity to do the show you are on. How dare you, you not only insulted me but more so THE BETTER HALF of America. Trust me I will never buy anything you design. Sincerely, Carolyn Kutcher-Schnetzler Size 16 and PROUD OF IT!!!
Daniella, You showed the world once again what an amazing degisner you are. The viewers ahead are haters and on tv everyone lookes fatter. You have a fabulous sence of fashion, and ideas. We are the strongest by far...I MEAN HELLO- YOU HAVE WON MORE THAN ANYONE!! KEPP IT UP!! BRING THE TITLE HOME!! You are the star of the show!!
Daniella, you actually shed tears over the fact that you had to design for a woman with curves. I can't wait until you're eliminated, you size snob.
Unbelievable that you didn't like winning the challenge because others could hate you. what did u think was going to happen when you are bigger than the nice lady you were crying about?.. did you think about her feelings??? how do you think shes going to feel watching this???and u just don't stop even in your blog you still keep going as if your the only thing that makes her look good and how hard it is. you need help and i'm glad issac told you off. the town i live in all think your unbelievable when your bigger than her..... grow up get a life... and don't blame your shortcomings on a beautiful lady....
'A guest designer on Trinny and Susanna' (AHEM!) or was it just a volunteer project which was all about cutting shapes for plus size women for the show? You're always boasting and exagerating the extent of your experience. After the Trinny and Susanna show you should know alot more than you do about cutting patterns for a 'real woman's body'!
Be serious people. You are such followers. Just because Isaac said she was size-ist you all bought into it. Can you think for yourself? She never said anything negative about size other than the fact that she never had to design for this before and the challenge scared her. I didn't read one bit of a slur in there anywhere. Personally, James Paul's comments were more offensive. Daniella has been consistently one of the better designers with designs that are realistic & wearable.
Besides, these shows cut and paste scenes to create unreal images of people. just watch the real housewives of nj clip where dina & theresa are having lunch. they have what appears to be a fluid conversation yet every time the camera angle changes food appears on the table, then disappears, then appears, then disappears. clearly it is cut to make the conversation go the way they want. the same thing happens in this show.... so base your opinions on the actual outfits...not on the conversations as presented.
I hope you win, Daniella.
I am one of many of your fans. I think that what you are doing is amazing. You are so talented and forget about everyone else!
Keep it UP!
Daniella, I loved the outfit you designed for real women, and had planned to buy it...until I saw the powers to be changed everything to black and made some very minor, yet significant, design changes. The transformation of your model was amazing. This is what I need to wear at executive meetings (down with boring unflattering dark pant suits)! And as wonderfully as Reco's outfit flattered his model, I can see why you won.
I am one viewer who feels Daniella's model did not give Daniella anything to work with in the way of likes/dislikes and so forth, and since I have designed and made costumes I have experienced Daniella's frustration. How are you going to custom design something if the model/client won't talk?
And I disagree with the blogger who said that Keith's model was part of the reason that he was eliminated. She did fine, better than I would have if I were wondering if I was going to lose my top in front of millions of viewers at any moment. His design and construction was that of a novice.
You go girl! And I've got my daughter's (Kim's) modelling group voting for you.
