So in high school I used to design graphics for t-shirt competitions, and I’m the closest in the group to having been in high school, so I’m thinking that probably helped in me winning the mini challenge. And there’s no way I slacked in any way on the main challenge because I racked my brains to figure out what a sophisticated tree-hugger would wear. I know right … sophisticated tree-hugger, pardon me for only considering the cliché, but that sounds like an oxymoron to me, and I am not going to compromise my style and integrity as a designer just because my inspiration is some dread lock wearing, granola-eating inspiration. I mean, I’m all for going green, but this was so out of my comfort zone. Anyway, I hated that Kelly and Isaac asked if I slacked because of my immunity. I know I probably can’t win EVERY challenge but it felt weird not to be in the top – I was definitely getting used to it. Don’t get me wrong, Haven totally deserved that boost of confidence – she’s very talented and worked her ass off these past few challenges to not be picked on for her sewing skills … but Merlin?!?! I mean, once in a while his work surprises me, but this was NOT one of those times. I don’t mean to question the judges and audience, but REALLY?!? Charlotte couldn’t even speak she was as shocked as we were. Anyway … in a nutshell, lesson of the week, you can’t trust anyone but yourself!
Totally agree! Your look was lovely, I would have loved to have purchased it, or Reco's. I think unfortunately the majority of Bravo's viewers are old women who don't quite understand a younger aesthetic. Merlin's was terrible, awful, just awful. A true mean girl would dress like Paris Hilton or Victoria Beckham, do you see any of those two in Merlin's outfit? I don't. I think Paris would be nice before she would wear that.
I thought your outfit was the best of the show and you are so talented, stay true to your visions, because half of those designers need glasses!
Wow. do you intend to come off as snobbish, whiny, elitist AND holier than everyone? If so, you are doing a fine job. SO mean about Merlin-is it that you are too young to let others be who they are? SO very, very Sizist about that poor woman-who frankly, while standing next to you-didn't look huge. Reco is respecting your abilities and you can't hear him. And you should see your pouting puss when anyone else wins. Too bad, really. You are a talented girl with construction skills. Would be nice if you had a heart to go with them.
Daniella, yes there is a pitfall of winning the mini-challenge; you won. To live on this planet and consider that a tree hugger wears dirty clothes and has dirty hair is a huge insult to many many people. Have you ever heard of Al Gore? Look him up. The real oxymoran is you winning the mini challenge. Get a grip on reality and appreciate the fragile planet you live on and the ever-dwindling supply of clean air we all share. A true artist has vision. Open your eyes and think before you speak.
Your comment about Reco at the end of the episod was right on. Reco's biggest problem is insecurity and he is spending most of his time trying to sell himself on his ability. I do not care for anyone that spends most of their time berating everyone else just to try boosting their own selfesteem. Therefore, I would much rather see those of you who allow your work to speak for you.
Daniella you are a very talented designer, and we all enjoy your ideas and designs very much. The 'tree hugger' design you made tonight was remarkable! It appeared comfortable as well as being cute! That was quite an accomplishment! (and,no,I am not a tree hugger!) Thank you and keep up the good work. Oh - the reason other 'designers' win sometimes is not because of their talent, it's because of their weird personal quirks...seems the judges go for that sort of thing.
I just don't get it why some of the designers have a total hate of you. Maybe it's jealousy I don't know. I think your designs are fantastic and I've loved them all. Tonights outfit I thought personally was the best of them all. It wasn't even a contest for me. I loved the way the draping came down in spirals and I've never seen that before and it was so interesting and sexy too. Just be who you are and keep ignoring the ignorant. Some of these designers think they know what you are thinking and they think just by looking at you that you are being critical and I don't get it because like tonight I just didn't see it. They are jumping to conclusions without even knowing what you are thinking. I hope you have a very successful career and I would buy your designs in a minute if I could afford them that is.
Daniella, if you were out of your comfort zone, then why is it you won the mini challenge and not the main challenge. I would think that if someone did such a good job to capture the essence of tree hugger once, couldn't they do it twice? Just a thought....
First off let me say I know nothing what-so-ever about fashion design but that does not stop me from watching and enjoying this program. I am greatly impressed by the incredible maturity you possess. It goes way beyond your actual age and after seeing the clip online of your chat with Reco about his boastfulness, it grew even further. (As for Reco, I think he will make someone an excellent seamtsress someday...) The fact that you are consistently at the top (this week no exception in my book) comes with experience, but you're to frigging young to have that much! Wow!! I'd like to express my opinion about the Andrew episode and him winning with your design. I thought the judges were totally off base with their lecture to you about the real world. Well, newsflash judges, this is NOT the real world. It's a competition where everyone is in it for themselves. Anyways, I hope you win this contest and than you can hire Reco to be your seamstress.
Daniella - you are an ok designer, but you're not going to get far if you keep insulting your clients – it's just not classy. You're constantly whining about something and making excuses - now you're insulting environmentalists (they're all dirty? – are you channeling Ann Coulter?) Maybe you're just a very sheltered and ignorant person who can't understand anyone who isn't just like you. Grow up...
I completely understood Daniella's dilemma, because there is a big difference in designing a t-shirt that would appeal to high school students and designing a sophisticated outfit for someone in their 20's. Daniella, you were on the right track with your natural fabric selection; but you just needed a better fabric choies == bamboo over linen == and perhaps a sleeker design that could go to the office, then to an outside protest. Not all tree-huggers have dirty hair and baggy clothes!
I agree, Merlin's work was very questionable. But if you look at the pieces, we have seen it before...either in his personal wardrobe, or in past episodes. I guess what I am saying is that Merlin only has a few tricks up his sleeve, and in my opinion theyre all very basic tricks, so give him maybe 3 more episodes top...and poof he will be gone. Your design was nice, and if the audience consisted of a more professional clientele, then you probably would have been on top, but such is life...
Really, Daniella, tree huggers being dirty? I have been really loving your designs, but your comment last week about your woman being "big all over" and then not figuring out that tree huggers can be really stylish in a really cool, green sort of way is making me question my thoughts about you. I guess, as you said, you are the closest to being in high school, so I must remember that you just might not be mature enough or have a broad enough worldview to speak otherwise. I hope part of what you take from this competition is more compassion.
Wow. What you just said was rather offensive to "tree-huggers", and I kind of thought your outfit looked like you didn't even care about your clique. Which appears to be accurate. I will say I liked the outfit and the materials you used, but I don't think it had much to do with your challenge.
Viewer: Wasn't it clear to you that Daniella's outfit in the MAIN challenge was quite superb and clearly a winner! However, as she had immunity because she won the mini-challenge, the judges did not consider her outfit in order to give others a chance. Her outfit was clearer the most stunning!
As a non-dread wearing tree hugger, I thought your design was brilliant and I was hoping it would win so I could purchase it on the web site... They should place the top 3 designs on the website...
Daniella, Actually I disagreed with the previous viewer's post. Your design concept was again on the top. You capture the essence and your look was very fashion forward earthy girl! Love those browns shades ! Unfortunately, the top designs were picked by the "attendants and regular people" to the runaway show. Not really the judges selection of the top 2. Pretty much everybody did good but yours stand out. You are so confident ! Good Luck ! See you at the end...with Reco ! Wow, what a competition it will be ! Amparo
Daniella, you won't win them all. Please be mature and learn to be happy for others. If you keep sowing discord, you'll start receiving it. And remember that the harvest is always greater than the seed you sow.
Daniella, the oxymoron is that you equate "tree hugger" with unsophisticated, dirty, etc.
Here are a few well known "tree huggers":
Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, Bono, Cameron Diaz, Alanis Morrisette, Ellen de Generes, Portia de Rossi, Anne Hathaway, Geroge Clooney...
You are what? 23? 24? You have a lot to learn yet but in order to learn you have to know that you don't know.
There's nothing that shows more ignorance than a person, specially a very young one, who thinks she (he) knows everything.
You are very pretentious and cocky. It is not flattering at all. Merlin did a great job. You just got out of school so we all understand you are not seasoned yet. It will come in time. One day you will learn what great design is. Merlin's design was on point. Yours missed the mark...instead of putting others down you should redirect that negative energy into positive energy for yourself to work harder.
You are an awesome designer and person! I love watching you every week, and I'm so proud of you, Ms. Pennywise!
I loved Daniella's tree hugger main challenge outfit. I think they just did not want Daniella to win yet another week in a row - how exactly are those "audience" votes tabulated, anyway?
Daniella, I loved your tree hugger outfit. Would you mind explaining how the scarf/wrap was made. I would love to know how the twirls on the end were done specifically?
You are a really good designer- and I hate to say it , but you probably won't win-- it's always some "off the wall " nut job-- like that wierdo from Peru (?) that thinks everyday is halloween. You can tell that creeps mindset, when he told you that it was a man's world , and to deal with it. I'm sure that Bravo's "no duking it out" policy was the the only reason that you didn't! HaHa Keep up the great work that real women want to wear.
Daniella, you really need to grow up. You are very mean spirited and totally envious of Reco and anyone else who wins a challenge! But especially Reco. Instead of you just doing your best and giving credit where credit is due, you persist in throwing other designers under the bus and bad mouthing everyone behind their back. I agree with the judge who stated you should not have told them that you "designed Andrew's outfit. It was a "team" effort, and I beleive you were the team leader of that challenge werent you? So in that position, you are supposed to be accountable for your team's work. You were supposed to lend a selfless hand and insure that all of the work was as good as it could be. You were part of the reason Andrew was elminated the next week, because the judges remembered what you said! That's not a good way to play. Compete with some dignity!
i think merlin has an attitude also but its easier to believe you when you give constructive criticism. otherwise most people just think you are bashing his designs because of your issues with him. youre a good designer, keep up the great work
Why are you attacking Merlin's work he won the challange fair and square, get over it ... you are so full of it,although you work is good some of your designs are lame too.Merlin at least has more of personality and drive to win this challange as well as Reco.... I really hope Reco wins he is definately a good candidate. Go Reco !!!
