I finally WON!!!!! I am in complete shock. First off I can’t believe I finished the dress. I was totally overwhelmed in this challenge. I was just burned out and ready to throw in the towel altogether, I was ready to go home. But after stepping out and having a break and just analyzing the overall look, hair, makeup and attitude of it all I felt inspired again and motivated me just to finish it. I had no idea in my mind that I could win it with this dress; I just wanted to have a finished garment and something I could be proud of. And I couldn’t disappoint Gianni. Mr. Versace was a very specific look so I couldn’t mess it up. There was a lot riding on this. I was initially excited and nervous when I was given Versace because it can easily be translated as very over-the-top, House of Extravaganza status. But I think I was able to find a nice balance and Miss Haven, good ol’ Miss Teen U.S.A., you will be extremely missed my love. Can’t wait to rekindle our love affair when I get back to L.A. Every time I use my hairspray I will think of you!! <3
Dude!! You're on the wrong continent!! I just came back from a week in Paris (August 2010) and Harem/MC Hammer pants are EVERYWHERE!!!!
You so need to get yourself to Paris!!!
Johnny,
You have come along way. We watched you evolve both personally and professionally with each episode. It was evident that you relized the potential of the oppertunities afforded you and you stepped up to the challanges. The pieces that you made were amazing and the other designers had to contend with your talent. Since you were young this was what you wanted to do and followed your dreams. Keep achiving.
This is probably catty, but I'll say it anyway- after watching last night's episode, is it a surprise you won a challenge centered around modelling your own designs after somebody else's?
PS: Don't blame it on Angel. People who make excuses for their own mistakes get stuck feeling sorry for themselves.
i very much dislike animal prints, i find them vulgar. so his dress was not my favorite. i was not as worried about the knock off problem. Also, he seems to not have a grasp on construction, draping and sawing, and if you want to be a designer, i would think that those things are a must! I do not see him having a future in fashion.
You will be missed, you were a bright spot.
I really loved the dress Johnny made. I thought it looked amazing, and something I would totally wear. As for what the person said about the show being fixed; you actually have to think about why they kept Reco. Yes, between his outfit and Haven's outfit, Reco's was the least marketable and desirable, but you have to look at the roots of the challenge. While the designers are supposed to make wearable, innovative, beautiful, clothes in every challenge, there's more to it then that. This challenge was about taking what you know about a famous designer, and Reco didn't know anything about the designer he was given. All he knew was the one vintage dress he saw, and when you look at that dress, there are some connections between the dress on the mannequin, and the dress he designed. Haven, on the other hand, knew all about YSL and constantly talked about how much she was inspired by him, and the outfit she made was sloppy, and didn’t capture him at all. I think it’s way worse to have someone create a look, knowing all about their inspiration, and still having the outfit be a flop, then someone who designs something, and has no idea how to draw inspiration from what they’re given, and have it miss the mark. P.S. After watching to Episode tonight, my opinion on Johnny has completely changed. What he did was offensive and just down right dirty.
IM GLAD TO SEE HOW YOU HAVE GROWN FROM BEING SO NEGATIVE AT FIRST TO BECOME SO POSITIVE...AND ALSO HOW YOU HAVE IMPROVE ON YOUR SEWING KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
After watching Reco design that Halloween costume red dress, and he wasn't sent home, I believe the show is fixed. The judges told us that 90% of the people said they would not buy his dress. They were forced to send their favorite person home but they didn't. No matter how bad Reco does, they won't send him home. I would have walked off the set that night. This is just a show for entertainment.
Hi Johnny,
You're great, and I totally agree about the preppy men. Nice job.
Best wishes,
D
I loved this look Johnny! You totally deserved the win. If only I could afford the version Bravo sells online.
Great work..congratulations.. It seems that the remaining designers are getting better each week!! I like the way you stay out of the drama and ignore the negative, yet, you use the criticisms to get better in your work every week. Good Luck..
This was a cute dress, very similar to the dress Emma Watson wore at the premiere of the Tales of Despereaux, though your skirt was not a intricate and you added more accessories to your dress. Big improvement from the high school clique elimination challenge.
WOW Johnny! Love your work! This was a fantastic piece of art and fashion. Good Luck Johnny...Keep up the great work on the show!
