Keith explains his disastrous final garment.

Jun 4, 20090

This challenge is to take real women and create dresses that enhance their bodies in areas that they feel need improvement and minimize areas they are not happy with. My “model’s” name is Maggie. She really looks like a model. She is tall and slender. However, I am now nervous because she is asking me to make her bust and hips look bigger. I have never had a client ask me to make them look larger than they actually appear. She has told me she loves the color red so I am making her a red dress with a black waistband. I am really hoping that this color combination and placement will help with this objective. I am also putting darts and pleats in proper places to ensure this enhancement.

At the first fitting I am beginning to realize that the concept for the dress is not working and I am going to be forced to fix this dress from disaster. I adjusted the dress but I am now afraid that it will appear a bit plain. Unfortunately there is not enough time to change the dress altogether so all I can do is hope it works out.

On the fashion show day I instructed the hair and makeup people to give Maggie a modern-like pullback hairdo and a clean petty face with matte red lips.

The dress does not fit Maggie properly because she did not tell me I took her measurements while she was wearing a padded bra. I wound up having to adjust the top of the dress to fit her bust without a padded bra five minutes before she went out on the catwalk. However, the judges didn’t like it. I was in the bottom three and was sent home. I am sad to say goodbye to my friends and this amazing experience. However, I will be always be glad I did it.

I was totally surprised when Keith left. The model looked good in the red dress, but I somehow couldn't help but translate that look to a Megan Fox-type out and about in Hollywood or your everyday wanna-be hitting a club somewhere in St. Louis. I understand the time element, but it still resulted in a very wearable, mass-appeal type of garment. I agree with what others said in that this show has to filter in the element of drama in order to tally up more viewers. If this were not the case, Reco, and Daniella would've been eliminated by now.

From what I saw your model wore a different bra at the second fitting, it was not strapless and it was white. I think I saw it on guest of a guest website. Don't blame the model for loosing. But I understand we always like to blame others for our mistakes. Your dress was great though.

Your red dress you absolutely fine. You lost because you didn't provide good TV. You are normal, level headed, and keep your cool. Also, I think, if you didn't talk about the "coat being something else" challenge negatively you would still be on. Isaac doesn't like to be challenged.

Are you (judges & The Fashion Show)freaking kidding me!!! First you eliminate Andrew Christian as it was perfectly clear Lidia should have been eliminated since her dress was not complete. I could wear Andrew Christian's dress more places and Reco's dress I could not wear at all. Now you eliminate Keith with Angel's dress not completed. Are you guys freakin crazy? I will not be watching the show any longer as you guys do not know what is talent and what is not talent. Goodbye looser show

I do not understand why you lost. Yours was by no means the best, but it was far from being the worst. I was so shocked I thought the show was fixed, but surely not

Keith, you have been one of my favorite designers since day one. I actually liked your dress. It wasn't one of my favorites but it was better than many. I thought the other two in the bottom were much worse. The judges even said that they both broadcasted the negative features of their model. At least yours was sewn and was safety pinned together or skin puckery tight. I think you were definitely sent home before your time and I am sorry to see you go. I get you. Love, Kat

Hi Keith,

Sorry to see you go since you are a very stylish and well mannered designer. Your dress actually looked really good on TV. The red was fabulous. From what I saw your model did not know how to walk, her feet were going inward, and her shoes did not look pretty either. Maybe that did not help the look, also she looked like she needed some caffeine or something....

On the padded bra thing. Keith women lie a lot about their bodies (ha, ha) look at all those perfect bras that make everybody look like they have breasts like "The girls next door", it's all lies. I guess this will be a lesson for you, next time you are in a similar situation, make the girl strip! (joke).

Good luck, you have great taste.

Well, I thought your dress last week was a perfectly dreamy concoction and am totally SHOCKED that Merlin was able to stay this week. However, its the reality of "reality" tv. They probably kept him in hopes he and Daniela will have more catfights. Grace and charm are not qualities reality TV producers seem to adore....

I liked your dress. No reason to send you home. There were bad dresses in the show and yours wasn't one of them. Anyway, best luck!

Hate to see you go; you gave it your best shot with what you had to work with. Too bad she didn't mention her "need to enhance herself" when you did your first measurements; some of us know how important that really is. I will miss your talent and creativity but I am sure you will continue to succeed in your endeavors. How can we catch a glimpse of your designs outside of the show?

Keith, I think it is a travesty that you were sent home tonight. Your piece was wonderfully designed, even if it was a bit loose on the model. I wouldn't have dressed a homeless lady in Angel's dress. It was the biggest mess I have ever seen!!! Apparently you don't bring enough drama to the show and we all know that's what reality shows look for. Even though you went home in 9th, you shouldn't feel bad because everyone has seen how extremely talented you are. You seem like a genuinely great person and that combined with your talent will I'm sure propel you to a great career in the fashion industry!
