- In the Cards ...
- Merlin knew he was going home when he pulled the Six of Swords.
It all started with Reco waking me up in the morning with sleeping robes that were left for us outside the door. Later in the Mini Challenge, we had to make a complementary piece for the robe. I did mine and thought it was one of the better ones made but of course Anna won.
The Elimination Challenge involved visiting a psychic and Tarot card reader that read us our futures. I do not remember what she said to me but I saw that I was leaving or moving on to something else.
The theme was to create something inspired by the Tarot card that we picked from the table. I took the Six of Swords. And since there are six of us competitors, it's fitting although the others have been like sword that have been nailed in my back.
Of one way or another, it doesn't matter what you create, you cannot always fight against nature and sooner or later you'll have to leave with what you carry. That fact is I lost and I went home. Happy? Yes. Satisfied? Yes. Pleased? No. What I showed was a beautiful piece compared to what the others made. I cannot believe I lost. The show might have ended, but for me, I'm just getting started.

i loved your work merlin. you were very creative and saw outside the box and women love that especially when they want to try something different. when they want to have something that not everyone has. something different and sexy. you and reco and anna shoulda stayed as the final 3. that would've been some competition.

Merlin, you have lots of talent as a costume designer, which is what you said you wanted to showcase, as your passion, in your final collection. That is great and you will go far with Broadway and other places that want and need those kinds of designs. This show brought you lots of media attention and fame that will launch your name and career. So, why do you seem so bitter, esp. towards the women from the Fashion Show? You were the only one who did not raise their hand when asked if you would remain friends with your colleagues from the show. You also looked disgusted/rolled your eyes a lot during the show. I am confused as to why you even went on a show like this when you seem to have no respect for anyone and are so bitter. You should try to look at all of the positive things that have happened for you AND your colleagues just by the exposure that ALL of you received from this opportunity. "Don't burn your bridges"..so to speak.. You may want/need to call on some of these colleagues/judges someday and you may have them turn you away because of your attitude.

Merlin - I watched you during the last show and your anger and bad attitude is still evident. I am sorry that you did not have the grace to even clap for the others. I bet you are probably a nice person - let that show

I loved your last design! It was my favorite of all of them that night. It's the only one a 'real' woman would actually purchase (not the lampshade look that the judges went for). I thought your design was slimming and creative. Maybe it's because I'm an artist, but I thought it was absolutely fantastic.
One of the judges claimed that someone would find your outfit in a donation bin. I disagree!! SHE was wearing a Moo-moo, and I thought yours was hip and fun and cute. LOVE IT!

Merlin!!!
I love him not just his creative style and gosh! so different way to deliver his fashion ideas, but He is just a character!
I can write a book about him! I wonder all the different ingredients that make Merlin "Merlin"
He was fun to watch. I think with some polish of his ideas he can be a fashion Magician1 specially for young people. Merlin you have it! you didn't learned from anybody that is why you are so unique,
Kudos!

Merlin, you and reco were my favorite. You are a very talented designer. I loved your last design, it was fabulous. I don't know what they were thinking. Many women I know would wear it, I really wanted you to make it to see your whole collection, something on your own, without the stupid challenges to guide you. You are amazing, and are very unique, and I loved the way you did not bow to the judges demands for change. You are truly creative and I cant wait to see what you do next. Obviously the show judges have really got it wrong since neither you or reco are in the finals. Im for james paul because he like you and reco have heart and true passion.

HI Merlin,
Along with Reco, I liked you also. I loved the way you protect you fashion sense. Everytime they try to modify your fashion, you always told them that you love what you created and don't see nothing wrong with it. You are going to go far too. I'm sure you don't mind contructive criticism but not when they are trying to take away the meaning of what you trying to project to the individuals.
Keep learning, perfect your craft. If there had to be two people picked for the three, It should of been you,Reco and Anna. With either you or Reco winning.

Forgive me for my lateness but since the beginning of the show I have been wanting to send you thoughts. I am of Garifuna decent and my mother was born not to far of the coast of Tela. As a Hondurian I am so proud to see that you have made it this far. I was so amazied by your designs and how creative you were. Mom went to Fashion industries HS but never persude a career in fashion. I did some styling stints here and there but it was too competitive. But enough about me, I would really like to know what your plans are for the future and where could i buy one of your designs?

Merlin's designs are not for the weak! I think that it is too easy and unfair of him to always dismiss the others designs on the show as boring. Most of his designs are not as easily wearable. However, the man can construct and saw! His yellow jacket was amazing, whether you liked it or not, it was perfectly executed and made, and full of interesting details. The pants were too bizarre for most, but the grey and yellow were great together, and some details on the pants were adorable. I can not help feeling that his ego is one of the thing standing in his way to success. i hope for him that he can understand the difference between ego and genius and become the success that he deserves to be.

I just loved Merlin’s designs. He was the best. I thought the travel sweatsuit was awesome. I was surprised they let him go. I also loved his ambitious attitude. I thought he was to good to be on the show to begin with. The other designers were more on the apprentice type. Merlin is already a professional designer in my opinion. It was a sin that you were not part of the top 4!

I love that yellow jacket and the gray pants with the yellow and the green stripes. I was so shocked, who knows what they are looking for. there was nothing off or weird about what you made. I like the knees, I can see someone wearing that as casual wear. IT was really hip to what young teens would want. Anyone can make a dress, if it's dresses and preppy wear they want they can make it themselves. I thought they were looking for someone that has a point of view and good technique. Who knows but James-Paul should have gone home with that mess. He has a point of view, but his technique is horrible..

The gods (or godesses) must have been listening. I was so offended by Merlin's misogynist comments (persistently calling all women "bitches" for example) that I wrote Bravo, advising that as long as he was on the show, I didn't plan to watch. And I didn't. It was only an ad for this week's show that made me think that Merlin might be gone. How someone who aspires to be a designer of women's fashion hates women so much is beyond me. And if he is gay (or just flamboyant), I just don't understand how he thinks hate speech is acceptable. When I heard Merlin was gone, baby, gone, I cheered.

I REALLY liked the yellow coat and was hoping, like the "winners", that it would be available for purchase - I would totally buy it. I don't see what's wrong with accenting a woman's knee - that's the least of a woman's leg concerns. I think it all looked comfortable. Your funky sense of design is right in line with my style and I will be looking for your designs online so I can buy them. Keep designing!

Merlin,
I thought your outfit was very good especially for comfortable tavel wear. It was most certainly better than JP's bubble butt dress with the droopy sleeves. The judges were way off on this week and you should have stayed.

this is highway robbery! i don't think the travel outfit is your best (because you definitely ROCK as a designer), but i love the concept and the color palette! some editing needed to be done like on the jacket's shoulder and the cuff, but overall the outfit jammed!
you are a natural designer! i love your mind, your professionalism, your style, your i'm-not-giving-up attitude, and your fashion sense.
i believe that your bye-bye walk (with a full-length red kilt, black-and-white tank-t-shirt combo and a red urban boa) is the most memorable kiss-my-ax exit ever. you go, merle! With dignity and style.

Merlin,
Your attitude on Wednesday was disgraceful. Even though you are a bit too "outgoing" for my taste, I was really starting to like both you as a person and your designs.
Your comment toward Johnny at the end of the show was completely inappropriate. He was sitting there minding his own business when you attacked his design (which, by the way, was stunning). Unlike you, he has learned from the judges criticisms instead of taking them so personally and acting stubbornly in the following weeks. If making money is not your top goal, I commend you - that is a fantastic attitude to have. I do respect that you want the world to see your designs for what they are, regardless of whether or not they sell. However, no one will ever be able to see your collections if they are too unattractive for buyers to bring into their stores. In addition, no one in the fashion world will want to deal with someone with a whole lot of attitude and only mediocre clothing. Also, your sexist attitude was appalling. Remember, regardless of whether or not you believe that you are being portrayed in a positive light, you are on national television. No respectable woman is going to buy clothes from a man who thinks he belongs to the superior sex and constantly refers to his female counterparts as b*tches. Your designs are okay, but I will never feel confident or sexy in clothes designed by a man who feels that I'm just another b*tch. By the end of judging, I had lost most of my respect for you; when you exited without acknowledging all of the designers in the way that industry professionals should to one another, I was simply happy to see you go.

Merlin,
I love your yellow jacket!! It was exquisite and very under appreciated! I liked your sweats idea though I can see how it was misunderstood and didn't stand out when compared to the rest. Had it been a sportswear competition or something about jackets, you would have blown them away!! I am sorry you were dismissed but I love that you went down fighting for what you believed in and did not lose your creativity or integrity in the process. I know you will be successful!!

FYI - A kilt does not go to the floor, it's sexy because it shows a man's legs from the knee's down and gives us something to wonder about, that's why women love kilts, you wore a red evening gown, well made, but still a gown.

I think you are the best. I am so sorry you got eliminated. I loved the pants in this challenge.I dont like the show because its not a "Fashion Show" its "the Rowland-Mizrahi Show". I cant wait to see what you will do next.

Merlin, I will be honest. I never much liked your stuff. But that yellow travel coat!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!! This time the judges clearly lost their minds. I wish i could buy that coat. While not a big fan of the pants (my body type & age is wrong) i know their are a lot of young girls age 14 - 27 that would look super great). Did love the color and the details on them; I think the judges are just jealous that they have big butts - including Kelly with her Afro-Am rear. Again cudos on the design and especially on the remarkable tailoring. Even from TV I could tell how well this entire garment was made. Including the jog jacket--have to say I never pictures you as the type to wear sweats. i really think that you lost because you did not explain your idea fully. There was so much more you said about your garment than you ever got across to the judges. And what is up with that tasteless sew job on Jp's whatever?! And that is not even addressing issues he had with styling.

After your horrible display of attitude, you deserved to go home and I am glad of it. Acting like you are God's gift to design is sad and pathetic at your stage in the game. You may design some great outfits here and there, but so do thousands of other designers in the world, you are not unique.

I don't know why 'Viewer' has such a PERSONAL problem with Merlin.
There is no denying his TREMENDOUS talent! If he has 10 stories of how he became a fashion designer, who cares?! I think 'Viewer' is Daniella :)
'Viewer' thinks Merlin has an attitude? You have obviously not been watching the show. Everyone has had their moments but I will be honest here - Daniella has coveted the crown of Ice Queen - she is void of compassion, caring and emotion.
To the rest of the Fashion Show contestants - sleep with one eye open!

Bye Merlin :(
I loved your outfit, I love your outfits every week. You are a great and original designer.
We all know that James-Paul's was an impossible to wear design and Daniella's was so ugly, she should have been kicked out just for that.
I have a feeling that both Anna and Johnny got those designs from "somewhere". They were so different than everything they have done so far. I'll keep researching my international fashion websites, I know I've seen that before somewhere.
Good luck to you, I know we'll hear from you in the future. I think you have a real knack for youthful designs, better than that Charlotte girl who was a judge.

Merlin:
My daughter and I were all for your design. A little overdone, maybe. However, a lot of work went into it and it really did look like a very successful Jr. Dept. ensemble.
Congrats.
What really ruined it for me was your parting attitude toward the other contestants. It was not professional. It was mean spirited and showed a lack of maturity. Open your eyes and accept the fact that maturity may actually help you in your future ventures into the world of fashion.
Who am I? Well, in the big scheme of things, not much more than a pinpoint of light. The same as you. So why not realize that gracious behavior will make you shine a little brighter, both to others and yourself.

Merlin,
I must say that your contribution to the show has been interesting. You have a definite point of view and lots of skill, and will no doubt always have clientele and admirers. One thing I did not appreciate was the running commentary about how "these bitches" were plotting against you. I wonder what you would have done in Anna's place, for example, in choosing iconic designers for each of your fellow contestants to emulate -- would you have given all of them a competitive advantage against you?? And why does defending your point of view always involve denigrating someone else's talent?
I will miss your unique take on each week's challenge but sadly will not miss the poison tongue. I wish you all the best as you travel your career path.

Hi Merlin
I am so Disappointed you lost! I CANT BELIEVE IT! I totally agree with the other comments that James Paul should have been the one to go, that dress was totally hideous! NOBODY can wear that dress, (not even a stick model).
You are the best designer of the whole competition. I loved your peacoat and the pant suit was really chic, I would totally wear it (and I am in my 30's!). The worst designs this week were Daniellas (SO BORING), Jhonnys (wft design, truly a rip off) and James Pauls (bad design and bad craftmanship). I am sure they voted you off because they did not want a latino in the final! the idiots!.
Anyway, all the best to you, and from now on I will not watch this stupid show anymore. Besos

And another thing, maybe someday you'll figure out what REALLY inspired you to become a designer. I've heard you tell three different stories so far! You got a fashion magazine from a lady when you were 6, and that inspired you. But then you say you made a dress for your mother from a tablecloth and that inspired you! But let's not forget you also tell us that you went to college to become an architect and that's when you realized you were really a fashion designer!

first of all merlin i loved your outfit i would wear it in a hot second no doubt about that.
secondly offended by the judges comments for why the outfit was elimanated. im not sure if they know this but those non retail wearing folks are the ones who watch this show. not everyone has hundreds and thousands to spend on one outfit especially in todays economy. they should have phrased there words better. point blank i feel that there decision was wrong and merlin had the right to be upset. he was the only one taking chances in my opinion. anyway good luck to you im sure we'll see your designs somewhere...

Hi Merlin,
You were an inspiration to me. I was really disappointed when you were eliminated. I think they picked the wrong people to be eliminated. I liked both of yours and James-Pauls' design. I think the ones who should have been in the elimination are Daniella and Johnny. Johnny's was too simple and Daniella's was strange. You were an inspiration to me because you were awesome and Latino! Me being a Latina made me feel very happy to see a fellow Latino in a fashion competition!

Merlin,
Don't despair. You did exactly what your creative genius guided you to do.
The travel coat you designed was HOT~ I also am a designer and usually am
light years ahead in concept as you are. And those sweat pants were too cool.
I loved the way you designed the leg, and the color was genius. Yes, I would
buy that outfit! What were they thinking? I think you did design with the woman's
body in mind. Where can we buy that outfit? Get your own website and leave the
dullards behind.

In a way I'm glad u got the boot because you are to good for the show. I only watched to see you but I can stop now and wait for Project Runway to come back. I would have liked to see you on Project Runway instead because that is where the real designers are at. Recco, John-Paul, and you are to good for this knockoff show.

I CAN'T believe Merlin got eliminated!!! He was the ONLY reason why I watched the show! Merlin...You are so creative, talented and Original!
I wish you much success and creative talent to follow you everywhere you go!

Hang in there, Merlin... You have a great personality and will succeed indeed!
I am flabbergasted that Daniella was not eliminated, as her outfit was a repetition of what she always does, and far below all the others.
Lots of love to you, my brother, God bless you... You are His talented child!

Merlin YOU WERE ROBBED!!! Johnny should have been in the bottom 2. His dress was a hideous version of something we have all seen a thousand times before. I don't care what the judges said my daughter (age 12) and I loved your jacket. We disagreed on the pants - only because she is tall and slim and would have looked fabulous in them but being shorter, curvier and not as slim, I would not. But your work was fashion forward and fresh. I am no longer looking forward to the final show without you there. I envisioned you, Reco, Daniella (even though I don't care for her attitude), and Angel in the final four. I like James-Paul's concepts but most of his clothes just don't translate into something that would flatter most women's figures. Also he rarely uses color. Everything he makes looks so drab like those WWII films when things were being rationed. Good Luck! You have a bright future.

My entire family is heart-broken that you were eliminated, Merlin. You are the only reason why we watch the show. You are highly talented, fun and entertaining. What have the judges done? I am very sure that if you joined project runway instead of that show, you would have been in the finals. I hope though that someone out there has seen your genius and hire you big time. Your last creation was beautiful, very beatiful. Lots of luck.

hi merlin, im writing because i just watched the show and im sorry but i hardly do. Im a retail store manager and have been selling clothing and buying clothing for some time now. I was so upset to see that they couldnt see true talent. The last outfit you made would have been a top seller in the retail industry. i could not believe that that one chick stayed you know the one with the sheer shirt that just reused her old idea and added a freaken peacock wanna be skirt that would never sold in any store i have ever worked in.I think the judges were just scared of your vision and ideas. I would have purchases that outfit and been the girl that all the girls hated on cause it was a true fab piece. I truly would have wore that outfit and knew i was the sh!t.
good luck to you and hopefully i will one day be able to wear a Merlin original. best wishes

Merlin,
You are an amazing designer! I hate the color yellow but would buy your jacket in a heartbeat and wear it often! My husband and I were devasted by your departure and immediately felt that the judging was not on the level! There's no way that you would be home if it based on talant!
Keep designing, keep smiling and know that you are a beautiful soul and loved by so many!

hey Merlin,
i hardly ever watch this show and i've never watched an entire episode, so i don't know any of the "drama" going on... i just wanted to say i "get" what you were doing with this piece. it's hipster cool. i dig the knees. i'm a woman. who says we have to show our freakin knees all the freakin time????? wtf?
anyway, best wishes to you. in my humble opinion, you are definitely going places.
but i don't think anyone has to tell you that :)

After watching Reco design that Halloween costume red dress, and he wasn't sent home, I believe the show is fixed. The judges told us that 90% of the people said they would not buy his dress. They were forced to send their favorite person home but they didn't. No matter how bad Reco does, they won't send him home. I would have walked off the set that night. This is just a show for entertainment.

No, no, no!! Merlin, I can't believe you were elimanated last night. You were the only reason I watched the show - you are talented, entertaining, original and the glue that held the damm show together. What a bad call by the judges! I can't believe they eliminated the only Latino to come through Bravo's doors. I'm so upset!!!

Merlin... My Sweet Merlin...
I'm so disappointed you got voted off... If I didn't absolutely LOVE Isaac with every fiber of my being, I would probably stop watching the show. All things considered I thought you were one of the more talented of the designers; I wish I could've seen you at the finale... Your creativity is absolute HOTNESS. ♥. Peace. Blessings. RL

Merlin sweetie you were definitely robbed. Your outfit was fabulous and original. My mother and I just couldn't believe the results. It seemed like all of the other contestants especially Daniella's ugly outfit got a pass. I would definitely wear your outfit--it's comfortable, fashionable, and very fitting.
The model didn't wear your outfit well because she was a stick model. I bet if the model would of had some meat on her bones then your artistic vision would have been clearer.
This just confirms to me that the world of fashion is Eurocentric driven and will not accept real change.
Keep up the good work and if you have a website with that outfit please let your fans know.
Peace,
Cassie

I'm stunned!! I can't believe that James Paul's *schmatte* was deemed better than your fun, vibrant outfit. Well, nevermind. These Bravo shows are getting to be more and more of a bore. Now tell us: where can we buy your clothes?
Best of luck to you!

OMG !!! I couldn't believe you were eliminated. I truly loved your outfit..It was vibrant, funky, youthful, and the colors went well together. James- Paul's dress was boooorrring !!!! He described his design with such mumbo-jumbo bullsh#%!t , the judges bought into it. They believed that he is a genius because of the way he thought out his design. Bravo producers' made the final decision and they were not for fashion but for the ratings. You are truly talented and you will go very far. You are so delicious!!!!!

Honey you were robbed! I luved your design last nite. The coat was cute and the pants were adorable. You are very talented and Im sure we'll be seeing alot of celebrities wearing your designs.

I loved loved your outfit. the jacket was sexy and could be worn not just with those pants but with with a dark color like black and also with a bright color like red. I loved ur design because it was very young adult friendly. Being a 20 yr old young lady its hard to find clothes that make you feel like there age appropriate. Its ethier to tenny-bopperish or too 30-40 year old range at the stores. I see myself wearing that out with my yellow vans and a white fitted tank top instead of that shirt you had (but the shirt was hot don't get me wrong.) I love to mix and match and i would by your design in every color. i esepicially liked those pants.

Hi, Merlin. I may not have agreed or liked your conceptual designs for all of your outfits this season; but, it has always been apparent to me that you are creative and I loved your design last night. I kinda understand what the judges (and the producers, I understand) are saying about the difference between you and James-Paul. . .blah-blah. Nonetheless, last night, James-Paul should have gone home. Stay positive; stay smart; stay U.

Merlin is finally gone! Hooray All I can say is you are one tacky bitch with a lousy aesthetic and an attitude to match. Vaya con dios you sore loser!!!!!!!

You were robbed, Merlin! No offense to James-Paul, but you shouldn't have been given the boot. In fact, your creation was one of the better concepts that episode. As it appeared on TV, your outfit rocked! And the comments by the judges that no one w/o a perfect body could wear it? Well, hello, morons...fashion is created for size two skinny bitches anyway. You should know better, Fern!
