It topped the Home & Kitchen Category on Amazon Prime Day — and broke sales records.
Amazon Prime Day — a summertime Black Friday-like sale bonanza that does not require shoppers to get dressed or leave the house — was already huge but managed to break records this year nevertheless. A company rep told CNBC that the sale was "bigger than ever," with one notable record being set in the kitchen category.
It may not surprise you that Amazon Prime Day's top seller in the Home & Kitchen category was the Instant Pot, a buzzy multifunction gadget that, apparently, people aren't over yet.
"Our Instant Pot Duo 6Qt sold out in 19 hours, including [a] 4-hour technical glitch rendering our product unavailable," Robert Wang, C.E.O. of the Canadian company that makes Instant Pot, told CNBC Make It. "The total volume broke our previous records."
The six-quart version of the Instant Pot Duo was priced at $58.99 for the sale; it typically goes for $99.95. The smaller three-quart version, typically $79.95 but offered at $59.99 for Prime Day, held the top spot in Amazon's rankings as No. 1 seller in the Home & Kitchen category.
Coming in at No. 2, by the way, was the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for outdoor sporting and emergency preparedness.
