The Matchmaker's Back

Patti Stanger shares how it feels to be back for love-struck second season.

Hi! It’s so good to be back! A lot has changed since Season 1 — Alison is no longer with the company, my right hand Destin has been promoted to COO (best thing I’ve ever done), Chelsea is ready for love, Destin’s girlfriend, Rachel, is now our Director of Registration (more on that in future weeks) and me… well, my men have been listening, my girls have been happy and my boyfriend Andy and I are going strong!

Check your cockiness at the door, mister. And please...lose the corvette.

This past year both Chelsea and Destin have been matchmaking fiends — personally handling their own clients and getting them into relationships and helping me with the difficult ones. Speaking of difficult ones, can we talk about David and Brett for a minute? Let’s start with David.

When I went to David’s house and met his ‘butler,’ I was appalled. When I saw the Madonna/Britney kiss painting in his dining room, I was appalled. When he was fed grapes, I was appalled. When his ego wouldn’t stop… you get the idea. But I gotta say, he pulled it out in the end and really stepped up to the plate as a gentleman. A little more of that and I think he’ll find love. Check your cockiness at the door, mister. And please...lose the corvette.

As for Brett - DATING ADD. He needs to stop with his nomad ways, quit living out of a suitcase and find a place to call home. No more ‘networking’ girls — talk sincerely with them. Connect. Slow down. Work is important, but so is love. How you can find that “special someone” if you’re never in one place more than a few days? I’m surprised his dog even puts up with it.

What is Dating ADD? When you’re all over the map — you’re not focused. As Destin put it, “Shiny ball syndrome.” Watch for these symptoms: doesn’t put all of his attention on one girl, his needs come first, no stability in ‘home,’ subject changes, cell phone always going off, keeping female ‘options’ open. I think it might be good to get deeper into this over the next few weeks. Maybe some advice? How about Ritalin for the matchmaking impaired? Hmmmmmmm? xoxox
