I was genuinely excited to be part of Patti's club. I thought it would be a great experience, and in many ways it was. One of the best parts about being on the show was that I learned so much about myself. Don't get me wrong, I certainly had some embarrassing moments, but I have come away from this experience knowing I have been changed for the better. Life only gives you so many special experiences and for me, 'Millionaire Matchmaker' was one of them.
Patti really opened my eyes to the fact that I tend to date people that don't take care of me as much as I care for them. I need to be with a man who is more my equal and more focused on being in a healthy relationship.
One of the major points I didn't agree with Patti on was her outlook on me bringing my best friend Jason, aka my "gay husband," on the date. I respect her point of view, but I did not bring Jasen to the one on one part of our date. I do not think Jasen is a relationship blocker for me at all. In fact, Jasen was simply my security blanket for the first part of a blind date. Lets be honest, a woman should not be alone with a strange man on a private plane for an initial meeting. Jasen is my best friend, and his opinion is very important to me when it comes to the men in my life. My date was a luckily a perfect gentleman, and once I was comfortable with him, I was happy to get to know him at our private dinner.
Unfortunately, my date and I were not a match. I have learned that I am looking for a man with more of a masculine side. I have enough of a girlfriend in Jasen! I need more of a night in shining armor (rather than a prince in Ralph Lauren loafers), who can be my best friend, lover, and partner in life. While Ray was a lovely man, I think I may be too much for him to handle. Patti helped me to see that I can't continue to successfully date men who need "fixing" or the motherly type of love.
I would do definitely do this again!
