Rodger talks New York Fashion Week, Valentine's Day, and recession worries.

Once again the team heads to NY Fashion Week and once again chaos ensues. The show only scratches the surface on how crazy and hectic the schedule is. Of course, Taylor isn’t happy and needs to leave early to get back for a job. Rachel can’t seem to win with Taylor. We love her so much but she just can’t find happiness. I’m not sure if it’s the job or if it’s just that’s the way Taylor is – steady state of unhappiness. After four years, I’m beginning to think the latter.

Of course the crazy schedule takes its toll on our time together. I totally get it and am so used to it by now. Valentine's Day becomes Valentine's Morning and, what you didn’t see, is that our wedding anniversary is the following day. I think we spent it going out to a "fashion dinner." Funny thing is I’m not upset at all. In reality love is a feeling you have for each other, not any outside force telling you that a specific day is THE day that you’re suppose to celebrate your love. I feel like Rachel and I have that feeling every day, so who cares if we’re busy when we’re “supposed” to be celebrating.

I hope the viewer gets a real understanding of the time, effort and commitment it takes to get that “red carpet” moment - and the incredible talent of the designers behind the scenes. Team Zoe really puts their hearts into it and as you can see, it’s not simply pulling a few gowns and trying them on. The other important thing to take away is that there are literally teams of people putting these looks together. The average person shouldn’t feel intimidated by what they see on the red carpet. These are special moments, not everyday life, and I would hope that people understand that and not get upset that they may not look like movie stars all the time.

Last thought: recession. At the time of this episode, the world was literally imploding and there was real fear that we’d be entering a depression. Being the more financially conservative one in the relationship, I tried desperately to instill some of that “fear” into Rachel. Her version of responsible was only buying two things instead of ten when we, against my pleas, went shopping. I guess that’s progress?

Poor Rodger, is what I always say when I watch the show, which i love. You seem so neglected by your wife and you seem like the type of husband that wants to help, be involved, and show affection as well as receive it. Bless your little heart! You are so talented and handsome and I seriously wonder why you put up w/ all the bs when it seems like you're the only responsible one in the marriage and still cares about the marriage! Hang in there, handsome! You deserve to be loved the way you want to be loved so don't settle!

Roger,

I absolutely adore you. You are the quintessential husband/friend/supporter for any woman, especially Rachel. You guys make the perfect pair and I can only dream of finding a man this supportive and loving as you. Keep up the great work and I hope to see you in more of the later episodes.

I watched you interact with Rachel since Season 1. At first I thought you were a computer geek, but I see you are just super laid back. Btw, computer geek is not meant to be derogatory, but an adjective... Anyways, I think you are ultra supportive. And I suspect, more the backbone than the series lets on what your role truly is and where the money comes from to help fund your business team's success. I applaud that you are the level headed one, but I would like to see you show some emotion sometime. It's like you get cameos of being on camera so dry sometimes. Just maybe you go all out bananas like RZ does when she sees Armani or something, and shut it down with her ;)

Roger and Rachel seem to have a wonderful relationship. I want my husband to watch the fashion week episode, because I work full time and go to school at the same time. I don't always have time for him, even though of course I wish there was more downtime, and I would like him to see other couples (even the rich and famous) struggle just like we do. Also, I absolutely love clothes. My husband thinks I have way too many, and I think you can never ever stop shopping. My husband is definitely the frugal one in our relationship, and doesn't understand my love of fashion and shopping. Rachel says "I die" about clothes, and I say "I die" when I watch her show! I get to watch how the fashion magazines and the fashion that the "movie stars" wear come together. Geez, I never knew! I LOVE THIS SHOW!
