No Fashion Relief

Rodger understands why Rachel couldn't say no to Naomi.

August 17, 2010

It’s that time of year when we pack up and go to NYC for Fashion Week. Rach and I planned to have a few days together in the city before the mayhem, but of course she got a phone call that she has to take. Naomi Campbell called to ask Rach to style the Fashion for Relief Haiti show in NYC. I obviously understood that she wanted to take the job – it was for a good cause and you can’t say no to Naomi! That left me with some time to hang in the city, which was nice but I would have rather been spending it with Rachel. That wasn’t going to happen as I know better than to try and make plans with Rachel when she’s this stressed out. As you can see, by not seeing me, the beginning on Fashion Week was very much a solo experience.

I was so proud of her with the outcome of the show. Through everything –- blizzard, shortage of samples and girls not showing up on time –- she pulled it off and it was incredible. I think that McQueen tribute was my favorite part of the show –- everyone had tears in their eyes. The show was a huge success, and raised a ton of money for the Haiti victims. In the end, it was one of the most amazing things that Rachel could be a part of.

Rodger,

I will have your baby. My husband and I own a real estate company together and he has made our life all work no play no family. We have been married 11 years and I keep thinking if I work harder we will get to a point we can start a family. So far no hope. It is a pivotal point. Work should NEVER come before family. Nothing is more important than your baby.

I have tried complaining and it does not work. If you have any hope I suggest you try to win her over with compliments and acknowledge her accomplishments while assuring her you are not trying to sabatoge her career but add fullfillment to her life. You can structure you life for work and family. If that does not work leave. At some point your partner has to respect and honor what you want and not just what they want.

Good Luck,

Susan

You are a man of men and a awsome husband. Wish mine was like you. RACHEL YOU ARE A LUCKY WOMAN. It takes a lot and you seem to have more then enough. congrats on your 17th many more to come! and you both seemlike newly weds

i miss Taylor

Sorry for the misspelling of Rodger's name previously. In my last blog, forgot to comment how much I enjoy the show. I am middle aged, branded myself in my day like Rachel is doing and now retired. On a day off watching the tube, in a Michael Kors dress. People love fashion and it is refreshing to see a woman as professional as Rachel work. Also pleasant to see the other half in full support, knowing when to speak up and knowing when to back off with his buds and beer. Congrats on your successes. Look forward to more shows.

I love the Rachel Zoe Show and wish her much success. I love the way you look after her. Things happen for a reason. I am sooooo glad that Rachel did not hire Taylor's friend. Taylor was so mean to Brad and I honestly think Taylor wanted her friend hired so they both could walk out on Rachel. I do hope Rachel will slow down and the two of you start your family.

Why on Earth would you complain about how busy Rachel is during FASHION WEEK???? Helloooooooooo? Not busy=no income for you.You sound ungrateful, Rodger. Your wife works so hard and all you do is complain.

You are beginning to bore me.

Team Zoe is great to watch. No where else on TV or print media can you get the behind the scenes look into fashion shows, style trends and how it's put together. I did not know it took a village to dress someone up, so it's a treat to watch all that, and it is all presented top notch.
I hope you and Rachel have a baby, though. You seem to want one now, and are always second fiddle to Rachel's career. Rachel may not have the biological clock ticking loudly enough.

why would you take on a job that gives you only 24 hours? Naomi must be a complete incompetent and you have to get sicker with stress. That is the way the world works now and you need to stop being a part of that madness. You should have said no to Naomi. she messed up, you freak out and punish Brad because "Naomi is too important to tell off so you put the load on Brad, quite unfairly."

My thoughts exactly! Why blame Brad when Naomi clearly did not have it planned enough in advance to give you more time to pull it together. Rachel, you need to learn to say no to some of the work (like Naomi's last minute show) and yes to Roger.

Love you and Rachel, and you're so supportive it's incredible! Can't get enough of the show, and Team Zoe in general!

Rodger you and Rachel are dears. I have seemed to become attached to your show....Which is not like me at all. Like Rachel I don't have much personal time.
I see you and Rachel are thinking about having children. Just go for it. Believe me It is never the right time to have a child.
My husband and I are in our late 50's early 60's and are blessed with one daughter, 36 and one grandson who is 13. I am so sorry we didn't take the time to have another child or two in those early years. Always too busy, too much going on. In my day we got married right out of high school. My daughter was born when I was 22 while I was in college, My husband was 26 at the time. Hell it was the 70's We were having way too much fun to take the time to get pregnant and have another child... Now we are sorry.

I do have friends who have had children late in their lives. Which is great, but I believe children should have young parents who can keep up with them(maybe not early 20's as we were a little young) . Parents who will be arround to be grandparents. You and Rachel are sure to make great parents. So don't wait too long. The clock is clicking.
Anyway my point is...Do it now, because before you know it the time has passed and you will have missed the boat.

Oh, I am so glad you got rid of that nasty Taylor.....

With your wife's obsession with all things fashion is she your stylist or are you on your own?!

You guys seem to have a good balance and it seems that behind every great women......

DRINK SOME MORE BEER!
you look good drinking that beer Rodger!so glad you are the one & only one for Rachel!
she needs you and you are so good to her, she loves you so dearly & can't do without you as I'm so sure you do know! keep up the good work!
I"m so please to see how Brad has come along, such a big help to her too!
you two are a match made in Heaven, stay strong, take 'quality time' as much as you both caan together, its such a big part of staying together.
I wish you well this season, so glad to see you back again!

Hi, I absolutely love the Rachel Zoe project show. She is the ONLY one on TV who treats her employees with respect. I never see her curse at her employees and when she does get mad-- she doesn't behave like a tyrant. I enjoy watching the fashion--I learn a lot about style. I hate ALL of the House Wives shows and I cannot stand Jeff from Flipping Out. I hope Bravo will give the Rachel Zoe project many more seasons. TLC no longer has "What Not to Wear" (which was a show that I absolutely loved). What Not to Wear was a show that displayed affordable fashion without drama. I know Kell on Earth is on Bravo, but she is another rude person with too much drama for me. I'd rather watch Rachel Zoe who is sweet with a wonderful staff-- especially since Taylor left--I could not stand her! Rachel, I sincerely hope you will have much success in all of your business endeavors and personal life. God bless

I'm so gald that you are there to help out your wife! I'm gald you have her back.I don't know if this is true or not. But would Rachel, have found out about what Taylor was doing,if you had not have stepped in? I'm sure she would have. However,"You go boy!" for having your womens back! Love Ya!
