The Zoe Report Pick of the Week

Picture Perfect Probal

Get to know the mastermind behind this week's White and Black Motocross Dress.

September 13, 2010

You have seen his work featured on my show, profiled in my newsletter and—most importantly—worn by my clients down the red carpet, so if you don't know who Prabal Gurung is yet...it is time to get with the picture! Both a worldwide sought-after designer and dear friend, he is a mastermind artist behind innumerable striking works, notably today's White and Black Motocross Dress.

Equal parts classic and contemporary with its body-hugging silhouette, black on white coloring and cluster of embellishments, this dynamite dress leads the way for fall glamour, along with the rest of Gurung's F/W Collection. So mah-jor. I picture it worn with an understated pair of black heels and bold red lips (as shown on the runway) for any moment under the spotlight. Picture perfect Prabal. xoRZ

OMG I'll just die,if I don't get my Rachel Zoe fix......

It disturbs me the number of people picking on Rachel for doing what makes her happy. Saying she's not living in the real world. Come on, if you explained your day to me I might think your world isn't the "real world".

Rachel keep doing what you love and the rest will fall into place. You an no other woman needs a baby to be complete. I hope that you and Roger are able to get on the same page as you love one another.

I love your show and all the styling that you have done over the years. I love all the things especially the jewelry. That's what I'm currently into right now. I just can't get enough. Plus if I could get clothes to match any of my jewelry, that would be a miracle come true. But, I just can't wait to see more in the future. I seen the late night shopping network, was that you on there, Or was I dreaming. I hope that it was you? Anyway keep up the good work, I wish you would have a child but your right, it's gonna be too hard to do both. Your job is so extensive and stressful until the shows are over? Keep it in mind for the future FASHION WORLD, WILL NEED YOUR EXPERTISE LATER ON, FROM YOUR CHILD TOO. I love your show & everything about you too, Bye now!

Rachel I never do this whole get on the computer and write to Celebs about my opinions but I had to..I watch your show all the time and I'm kind of obsessed. (Almost)Every night when my beautiful baby goes to bed I pour a glass of wine and turn you on via On Demand :) I want to tell you that I think you are so adorable and absolutley fabulous at what you do. If I could have a fantasy career it would be yours. I just wish like everyone else you made time for yourself and your family(Rodger)... I think you should have a baby because It's a love like no one can imagine until they do it. Having my daughter Dylan has made me a better person. In your case just think you can dress up your little one in fab outfits and one day that child can follow in her/his beautiful mothers foot steps.. If you feel like you can't physically do it then adopt. God knows there are so many children who need familys. But then again to look at yourself in anothers eyes and know you made that perfect gift, there is nothing like it!! Anyway just wanted to tell you I love you and your show..Please do more seasons or I will just have to watch reruns every night ;) Take care Momma!

I LOVE THE SHOW!!!! So you know I am a fan, here are my THOUGHTS!!!
Rodger is an amazing husband!! You are an amazing Fashion Icon!! What a wonderful "MOMENT" you will have when you & Rodger hold your child!!! Whether it be "natural" or "surrogate"!!!

I am the mother of a handicapp son, his name is Scott!!! I was told that I could NEVER have a child & I have my "MOMENT" everyday with him!! He is now 23 years old and "I Die" with Joy everyday!!

"Thought" Go "Banannas" over your love with Rodger & have a child anyway you can!!!

NO REGRETS cuz "Chanel will NEVER tell you "I LOVE YOU MOMMY"
Good Luck & God Bless!!!

Your obsessed with fashion instead of your husband, and you might lose a good guy who really loves you in the process.

so whats it going to be? U didn't post my last blog but it seems everybody is saying the same things.

omgoodness...............

Rachel you and Roger are truly a couple with a heavenly administered relationship. you are perfect together.and besides that roger is avery georgeous and patient hetrosexual masculine male. i really love watching the show ; however-rachel zoe has become a great success.ihave loved you from the start until now .ijust love -love -love -watching you become asupper-mega stylist to the starrs.life is ajourney please enjoy -your life with awonderful as yours.babies are truly a gift when 2 people can committ tobeing the best parents that they can be.roger is your man make him as happy as he has made you. may god bless your womb to concieve avery healthy bouncy baby .

I love your show, would just love it more if everyone stopped saying Jesus Christ!

rachel, you probably will never read this, but tonight watching yiu, I had an epiphany. It all became crystal clear. It was something you said about Anne hathaway, and you not being intellectual. I realized that you are very insecure about your intellectual self and so you have decide to be the genius when it comes to fashion. But when it comes to having a conversation about anything ANYTHING other than fashion, you seem lost. You live , not in the real world, but in the fashion world. And sadly, your "friends" are your clients, women who care so little about fashion that they wait until 3 hours before the Ocsars to get dressed, trusting that you will never let them down, but like you say, "at the end of the day" they have lives and ....you dont.... please Rachel, let yourself have a life, It will ONLY enhance your work life. I promise

Rachel,
I have caught your show and think it is fun and love how you talk about worrying about how you would create a job "when you designed your carreer." Bravo to you for wanting, striving, and achieving it all. That being said, recently you styled a Bridgette Bardot retrospective. Yes, she was very hot and achieved icon status as a sex symbol. But, if you should choose to pay homage to a person perhaps you should have seen that she had been a fore runner on animal activist since 1973. While I can see the connection and would not object to anyone wearing fur if that is there preference perhaps if the choice is a retro of a sex symbol of a wrapped in sumptious fur may Jane Mansfield or the redundacy of Marilyn. Just a little check for history although the pictures were gorgeous, perhaps you insulted someone you wished to praise.

Dear Rachel,

The fashion on your show this season is off the charts great! You are very talented, which is why your name is being mentioned in so many articles about NY Fashion Week in all the newspapers and magazines! You are a trendsetter! everyone is copying your looks...

Love,

Hello Racheal,
I have a two year old little boy and I had him at 38 years old. I think you are to worried about what other people think and say. you got to fall your heart and shu out the world.
I like to watch all the fashion style but being a really size 18 plus size. I am totally disgust with the fashion world..have you see plus plus size cloth ukkky and moo. You should look at the plus size worlld we need someone who does not close there eyes when they pick things out for each season.
thanks
Michielle
PS I am 6'0 tall and a true plus size not fat

Rachel, as an avid fan of your show, I have seen in past episodes (Season 1) you talk about what you guys would name your baby, and other references about the child you would have. And so most people are missing that Rodger is upset because you always said you would have a baby and now it is revealed that you never really deep down meant it. The baby's name and all that was just breezy talk, like fashion talk, not serious. Ooops.

Your attitude to Rodger now when he mentions kids is a technique to put him off- but at what cost down the line to your marriage? Your excuses to Joey that you have no time, care and love about clothes, or feel too frail, all fell flat. If you feel frail, that can be rectified today by eating a few square meals- take Rodger out to lunch! If you "fear" pregnancy, then you shouldn't fly on a plane, cross the street or get in a car- that's more dangerous! Even the celebrities you know all have kids (Frail Victoria Beckham has 3 boys). It seems that you are having difficulties handling real emotions, real intimacy, warmth and love, on another level than the superficial realm of the fashion world, that a marriage and children involve. You and your marriage deserve that you take this matter seriously enough on a more mature level to get through a pregnancy together, or for her at last to try, since you both came before the fashion shows and will be there after the fashion shows.

Came to realization next Tuesday is the last episode. It is so sad .
Rachel, i think i will speak on behalf of many viewers that watch and love your shoe when i say - PLEASE DO ANOTHER SEASON. We need you to get inspired, to perk up our wardrobe, add a few exciting pieces, try something new. And you are so good for the economy too - i can not tell how many things i have bought since i started to watch your show....expansive things *wink*
I wish you all the best in every endeavor you take.
Peace,
Russian Girl

Rachel, need to focus on having a baby instead of fashion... What's more important than having a family....

I don't think you really want a baby and that's fine. NOT EVERYONE HAS TO HAVE A BABY TO BE HAPPY! It seems like if you did it, you would be going against what you really want and that's sad. Plenty of people lead fulfilling lives without kids. Stay strong.

Love ur show. I love roger but I think he needs to have his own career. He's sick of dresses, fashion shows, waiting in the car while u dress celebs, etc. I don't get why he's following u around to Milan and ny cause he seems trying unhappy. He wanted to finish his pasta instead of going to a fab fashion show! You and brad and ur team should keep it all separate from your time with roger. U should however make some time to be with him away from ur biz. I don't get from watching the show that u really want a baby. U worked hard and ur finally making it in the career u love. U have time and can always adopt when and if ur ready. Don't be pressured. You and roger need to talk about this cause it's major. I still think roger is bored and needs something to fulfill his life. Why doesn't he play tennis or golf or something? Anyway that's my 2 cents. Good luck. Love to brad. He's doing great.

Dear rachel,
OMGx2 love your show. been watchen sence the first day this bad ass show came out. Always excited to see what gorgouse outfits you guys pick out. I loved brad's bow ties he used to wear last year he looked so cute in them. And i think you and Roger need to have a beautiful baby together, it would be a new chapter in your guys life!!! plz plz plz <3

Rachel and Rodger i believe you should go ahead and have a baby because 1, you can style infant clothing wear, plus you can make the other Pregnant people feel good about them sleeves because they need that glamor you have and they Miss when they become pregnant, You will be a awesome parents, you can start two new lines the pregnant women and the infant one, You can do this , You are a awesome designer, you need this baby to help relief the stress in your life Fashion is important but Family Comes First,,
Good luck to the both of you DJ Holcomb

Rachael, I understand completely when you say you feel your health is too fragile to have a baby. I am in the same boat and am 39 years old. Having said that, there IS A way for you to have your own biological child without carrying it and that is through gestational surrogacy - the surrogate mother will carry an embryo made with your egg and Rodgers sperm. Please do explore this option. Also I noticed Rodger has a short fuse, hope he becomes more patient once you start a family.

Why is this season so short? 7 episodes?

You have gotten so impatient with Rodger. He is a jewel. Please step back and get a reality check at what is really important in life.... family. You can have both a career and a family. It won't be the same, but you'll not want it to be the same as soon as you hold your baby in your arms.

You will never know if you can get pregnant until you try. I'm on Team Roger...would love to see you two have a baby!

Rachel I just wanted to say that the episode where you expressed your fear of miscarrying a child touched me. I am 35 years old and have lived through two miscarriages--the latest took place in July. I can truly say I understand your fears, but I've survived two and I'm pretty sure based on the mental strength you've exhibited on your show, that you could too. Don't let the fear or your age discourage you. I'm going to keep on trying! If it's something you truly want, let it go to the universe and try.

Rachel, I was in my mid thirties when I decided to have a child. I miscarried the first time, and thought God must know best. I tried again, and had a beautiful baby girl. I had a great career, and took a break to spend time with our daughter. Later (when she was preschool age), I got back into my career. I still put my child first. Having a child is the best thing I have ever done in my life!! I hope you will take this opportunity, and try for a baby! I don't think you will ever regret it. The rest will fall into place as it is meant to be.

Also, I'm so into shopping and fashion. I love your show! You have such a great eye when it comes to "putting it all together". Also, if you have a baby, it is great fun to dress them!! Trust me!
Best of luck!!!

I love your show and thank you for reminding us that stepping outside our fashion security zone among a lot of other things can really help us stay up to date. I've listened and finally started buying a few stand out pieces and totally different looks instead of continually going for a lot of boring "normal".

Do what feels right but I suggest going for a baby. My husband wanted one but there wasn't one cell in my being that wanted but, by the time I was 38, it was affecting my marriage so I said I'd try. Of course, I thought God knew me well enough and would never let me get pregnant....WRONG!!!!! I had her when I was almost 40, loved being pregnant but didn't what a baby the whole 9 months and came home with her thinking, "this can't be happening". I think she was 2 months old when I told my husband I wanted another one. Sadly, we tried but I couldn't carry them to term....my biggest regret. I work long hours at a job I love but coming home to my daughter at every year of her life is my favorite moment. I still adore her and drink in every moment of her precious life. I tell her fashion is something we play with to go with our moods but it's not what makes us and we have so much fun trying things and now we can share some items. At 5 ft 11 already she's 3 inches taller than me so we buy boots in her size and I put several pairs of footies on so I can wear them too. I understand your feelings, but believe this mother who never wanted to go there, you'll never regret it.

Dear Rachel,

It was so appropriate that for last night's episode when you were talking with Joey, and you could not relate to anything he was saying about separating private and work lives and loving a child, you were dressed like Norma Desmond in the film Sunset Blvd: the lipstick, the loose clothes, the hair snood. Norma Desmond's view of reality was also very different than others. She dressed for the cameras at all times and her life was only meaningful when in front of the cameras. You told Joey you find love, caring and meaning from clothes, and you spend every moment packed full of superficial moments at shows, events, galas, parties and openings where you are in front of the cameras and celebs. You never just go home from work, roast some salmon for yourself and Rodger and chill out, maybe go for a walk or to the movies and ice cream. You say, "How would I have time or a child if I am so busy with all these events", when you don't even realize that even without a baby going to all these events leaving no home private life is imbalanced, very Norma Desmond. Watch Sunset Blvd and then Find balance in your life, girl!

Please stop saying "JC". It's so offensive. You can have a baby and your career, go for it!

Every Mother out there has the same fear you do about having a baby regardless if it is the first baby or the 10th baby. You worry about the health and safty of your children so don't feel like this is only you, talk to some mom's and your Dr. If you decide to have children then great out of all the things I have done in my life having children was the best. Now that I am 60 my girls (I have 3) are my best friends I love watching them as young adults and mothers. But that choice is not for everyone, and if that is your choice then let it be don't let people pressure you. I love your show although I know little about fashion you live in a world that every girl dreams about.

Baby time or no baby time?!? It's not fair to string
Rodger along if you really don't want children. Time
is ticking for you two. Follow your gut feelings! Fashion
is fashion but, a child is a life time miricle and commitment!
Bless you both for whatever the future holds.

Rachel:

Stop being so afraid of your marriage and the possibility of having a baby. Fashion is absolutely wonderful, and you are fantastic; however, your life will flourish with a Roger and a baby. Your career is a means to an end. Please take a chance, and move forward with your husband, Roger. What a babe he is. Don't be afraid and let this opportunity pass. Fast forward to 30 years from now: remember your parents and what they provided you and pass it on!

Rachel is my hero....Major!

I think Roger is done with the fashion. he wants babies. I don't think each of you should hold any hurt toward the other for your decisions. I just realized in my mind that this was filmed months ago. I hope everything worked out for you.

I don't think its your fear to have children. Having children means choices. Not choices for Roger but choices of yours. Having children just takes a choice to have and want to love someone more than what you want. It is not a bad thing to want other thiings than children in your life. The worst thing anyone can do is to have children because someone else wants you to have a child. You have to really want to commit to it. Lets not forget that the world is full of unwanted children or children that are starving for food and love. We dont need more children that really aren[t wanted or are born to people who would rather be doing different things, On the other hand, children are the most sustainable people in the world. They are survivors. Children are born in to worlds of parents really didn't think it out and be honest about why they had them. God bless the Children

Rachel, Gosh, I don't know what to say, you were very mean to Rodger. You wanted him to apoligize to Brad, I hope you did the same to him. The pressure is just getting too much for you. Hawaii does sound good for you both. Living in California and being who you are, you have to know some damn good chefs. I see where you get your beauty, your family members are stunning, from your parents right on down.

I was laughing 5 minutes into the show, at Rodger's reaction to your desire to wear CHANEL at labor. Genius ! You would look gorgeous!
LOVED the McQueen jacket and green croc embossed bag you rocked in the beginning. I am a big McQueen fan myself, have a few pieces of this brilliant designer's most recent collection (RIP)
The comedian actress was SO spot on imitating you - cart full of bananas in the supermarket along with your lingo. LMAO !!! And the whole video about Rachel Double....so funny...i mean :-))
I admire your :
1. Ability to see clothes when they just hang on hanger...lifeless...and you say it is gorgeous...and i don't see it until that garment is on your client's back. AND THEY LOOK INCREDIBLE !!!
2. Your team. Each and everyone of them are personable and supportive of you, and have your back 100%. Rachel, you hit a jack spot with your team members.
3. Last but not least, your husband...Rachel, you are the luckiest girl stylist to have such a supportive husband. He is a keeper. No man that i know would be so patient and understanding. Try to set aside some time for him, and only for him :-)
This was probably the most touching, opened-up Rachel, personable episode of all.
LOVE and CHEERS,
Russian Girl

OMG, the show has not even aired and you already have posted your blog!! You are just too cool. I will email my 2 cents after viewing!!
