Who Needs Sleep

Jeremiah shares that it was worth not sleeping to see Rachel's reaction to her finished home.

By Jeremiah Brent

I knew when I was assigned with the scary task of decorating Rachel and Rodger's enormous home that It was not going to be an easy job. There were so many thing that need be completed. Never mind that I had to find all of the of furniture for the home, but we had to move everything from their previous home; every piece of art had to be selected, hung and arranged; every accessory had to be placed and arranged; every square inch cleaned and polished and most of the items were custom-made, so I had not seen them post production and design.

You can see just how little sleep I had that week. I am by nature a perfectionist, so as you might imagine, this job doesn't lend itself well to sleep! LOL

I really wanted to push Rachel and Rodger’s design style. I wanted them to see they could still have a modern and contemporary environment even with the introduction of some traditional pieces. One way I did that was by designing a sofa that had clean modern lines, but by adding the chesterfield style back and cushions, it became a smart blend of the two styles!

Your home should be an extension of you and who you are as a person. If you can come home, and actually feel at home. . .that's fantastic design.

I can’t tell you what it felt like to have Rachel and Rodger come into the house and say they loved it. Rachel is someone whom I deeply respect and to have her say, "This is perfect." Well, who needs sleep? Those words made it all worth it.
