Shereé: My Mother's Birthday Celebration Was a Success

Shereé Whitfield looks back at the stress (and success!) of planning her mother's birthday party. What went through your mind when your party planner canceled on you?

Shereé Whitfield: I was furious when Tiffany canceled last minute on my mom’s party. I felt more like she was letting my mom down, and I just never thought she would be that unprofessional. Whether she was paid or not, she agreed to run the few assigned errands I gave her for full credit of a party that I planned and put together! Your word and your business accountability should mean everything.

Tiffany was my daughter Tierra’s friend, and she had been to my home on many occasions, as I tend to entertain a lot. She'd just started her own event planning company, so I agreed to allow her to take full credit for putting the event together in hopes of getting her more business. In reality, I only assigned her a couple small tasks like picking up prepaid linens and a few other things and hanging the crystal ball. So when she didn’t show up, the '70s party was able to move forward without a glitch and still be a huge success without her. I have to thank all of my vendors and those who actually came together and worked hard to help make that night a success for my mom, putting the most amazing smile on her face all night.  #Imthenewpartyplanner Were you happy with how the party turned out?

I was so happy to see that despite all the chaos, my mother’s birthday celebration was a success. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and we partied all night long! The guests all honored the theme and had amazing looks. It felt great to have all of our close friends and family there to celebrate an amazing night. The food was delicious, the decor was groovy, the DJ jammed, the photobooth was a hit, the '70s candy table and dessert table were awesome, and everyone danced the night away underneath the disco ball! Did your mom enjoy her birthday?

My mom definitely enjoyed her birthday. I think she was overwhelmed with such happy emotions. My mom is my hero; she always worked so hard to provide for me and our family. It felt good to be able to do this for her and make this milestone birthday so special for her. She had a smile on her face the entire night! Who had the best Soul Train moves?

Overall, I think Kenya took home the award for best Soul Train moves when she busted that split! LOL! But all the ladies showed up and showed out. I appreciate all of the ladies for coming to celebrate and honor my mom.

Thank you guys for tuning in and for all of your support. Make sure you guys stay tuned because things are starting to heat up as old friends rejoin the fold and emotions run high! Follow me on social media. I love reading your tweets and FB/IG comments — I especially get a great laugh from the memes!
