What better way to start the week than with the Atlanta ladies, right? At first I wasn't sure how I felt about the move to Sunday, but just as my preemptive case of the Mondays began to set in last night, NeNe came along to snap me out of it with her unspeakable sass. I was then able to drift to sleep stress free to the dulcet tones of Kim's singing.
Now before we dive in, I do have to address "Sf Fan" who noted last week that NeNe's comments at Cynthia's brunch should have made the list. I have to admit that when she said she wasn't putting candied yams or a peppermint candy in her va jay jay, I lost it. It's difficult only choosing three moments! That's why I love hearing what you guys think, so keep the comments coming.
The #3 moment goes to Lawrence's meeting with Kandi. I LOVE that she wants to make him the next RuPaul. And who knew Lawrence could sing like that? This performing arts high school he and Kandi attended must be pretty amazing. I'm imagining it as the "Fame" school with Southern flare. Forget "Closet Freak" (Why are they so desperate to make that phrase happen?), how amazing would a dance version of "I Sing the Body Electric" be as done by Lawrence? However, I must say, the real star of that scene was Lawrence's fierce high-heel clogs. To use Lawrence's own words, "This shoe is DISGUSTING!"
The yard sale took the #2 spot this week. Where to begin? Ariana saying, "I never thought we'd be working on the streets," Kim drinking wine at 9 am out of a coffee mug, seeing Kim's middle school yearbook picture … a yard sale full of wonders! I can only imagine what other hidden gems could have been hiding in the drawers of Kim's bureau. I think NeNe's guesses were pretty good though, "Wigs, a dead body, an old Big Poppa…" But really wouldn't the best find be some old cassettes of Kim singing as a child, back when she was just a young girl with big hair and big dreams? She should really consider penning a Lifetime movie about her career.
I love this blog! Here are some honorable mentions for this week":
1. Nene and Kim talking about their relationship issues. Somehow, Kim has come to the conclusion that they are the same situation.
2. Seeing Greg "apartment"....wow..didn't know things were that bad.
3. Kim and Sheree discussing who stays at the Holiday Inn...LOL.
How about making it top 5 moments?
P.S. Who knew all the drama that happended to LaTavia after she left Destiny's Child?
I realize that I am just one of many who might be wondering why it is important to viewers to showcase Kandi in a different light than previously? Last year she had my respect, now not at all. We do not need a single mother who has no experience with marriage and long term relationships giving us advice on her views as a "sex therapist". Back at her, young women are following this show and the problem may be expanded with her advice, i.e., deseases, infections, increase in teen pregnancies and all of the other problems created from promoting her warped "sex advice". If she chooses to include such in her "talk show", that is her right, but Bravo should have more respect for all viewers and leave that on the "editing floor". Better yet, if Kandi finds this another avenue to promote her talents earn revenue...let her go to the x-rated channels to do so. Some things are just not funny, have no relevence to this show and is downright disgusting and insulting to those of us who have some self-respect for ourselves and families. She has no degree, is not Dr. Ruth and apparently not someone who any decent guy wants to have as a life partner, ergo, no experience in the marriage arena. She and Kim are vulgar, nasty and definitely not role models nor marriage material. Who wants to spend their life with the likes of those two. ...no decent man...all things they promote are short term and unworthy of air time. Give us more of Cynthia, a truely classy lady who knows not to go too far crossing a line. Kandi was and is fine with the comedy scenes with Kim trying to sing, (I would rather hear a mad dog bark). She would be good with "talent searching", but, please, no more Dr. Ruth, Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You asked, stated keep the comments coming....and I answered on behalf of those of us that do not appreciate "the trashy, classless, vulgar side of life" Now, it will be interesting to see if this gets posted. Don't think so.
Housewives of Atlanta was never my favorite - but this season is absolute perfection. I think it is my favorite season of all time of all the housewives shows!! I am constantly laughing out loud. It cannot get any better!!
Please say you are being sarcastic with your comments about Kim's singing ability. She cannot sing. Give me autotune and Kandi and I can be a sensation and I can't sing either.
Clearly you've never listened to Kandi's radio show, and CLEARLY you don't have girlfriends! But for those of us who do, sex, relationships, children, and the like, are the things that women discuss - including tips and tricks on how to satisfy the men in our lives, and for the record, a woman doesn't have to be married, or even have had a long term relationship to know these things! I can imagine how boring your sex life is...smh for your poor husband! This is a reality show, and in the spirit of keeping it real, Kandi was having a discussion, that was requested by another housewife, about her life, amongst her girlfriends! How about instead of throwing shade on this young woman who is clearly comfortable with her life, including her sexuality, you just mute the volume when she's on, or better yet, go grab the sugar bowl and stop being such a rigid b*tch.
I agree with the other poster - it should be top 5...let me add:
- NeNe and Cynthia - Cynthia says, "Greg loves you," NeNe asks, "How the hell do you know that?" the scene continues. NeNe says, "I'm divorcing Greg." Cynthia looks bewildered. NeNe asks, "where the hell is my drink?"
Phaedra still lying about how far along she is. Clearly she doesn't realize that every single woman on the cast has had at least one child, so no one is buying that she's only 7mths along!! NeNe says, "Shut up so people won't know how stupid you really are!" CLASSIC NeNe!!
This is NeNe's season. Even with all the drama with her marriage, she is a standout.
I don't like the Sunday time slot! Grrrrrrr. I'm in a Scorcese Boardwalk Empire party group, and well..... the dignified addict can't give up that new Sunday night ritual, even if the times do not exactly overlap.
Let's get back to episode 5..... My dog's probably thought I was going crazy.
I hadn't laughed so hard in years!
NeNe talking about the candid yams..etc up the va ja ja Sheree whispering "you don't swallow" and Phedra not admitting her true due date....
Boy every time I think of that episode or replay it for my friends we just crack up!
I agree with the Kandi comment. I love her and admired how cool and humble she is. I am by NO MEANS a prude - far from it. However, this seems a little classless. For some reason, this is making her look like someone to call for a good time instead of someone a man would want to love, protect and wife. I'm not really sure what makes me feel that way but i do and in the words of NeNe... "now this is just what i see with my two eyes and if you don't like it, you can pluck them out and give me two more".
I agree with you and I am by no means a prude. My first comment didn't post so i'll try this again. I really like Kandi, she's always come across and humble and genuine. However, something about this makes her look like the girl to call for a good time not the one that you'd want to love, protect and wife... just my perspective.
And in the words of NeNe, "this is just what i see with my two eyes and if you don't like it, you can pluck them out and give me two more".
Completely off topic...why does the shoe with ATL following it look so similar to the word JAIL? No offense meant, I'm just sayin'...
How could you have left out the dinner at Nene's I mean that was the biggest of all???? Nene insulted Greg in front of their company ...and then BAM it was on....what gets me is she doesn't see her part in this....Greg is not one of those people who wants to sit down and have a long drawn out discussion about what's bothering him...we know what it is...his business has suffered due to the economy and that is obviously eating on him a lot....and having her constantly trying to pull him out of his shell and go there is making things worse...he will shut down even more. They love each other...but Nene sure has been saying a lot of ugly things about the man who gave her the life she is living....he seems like such a nice guy in past episodes who almost keeps Nene grounded (if that is possible) since they seem to be direct opposites in many ways...he has a sense of humor and I have laughed at some of the things he's said and done before. I hope they can work things out.
