Based on all the comments and emails I have received regarding our trip to Africa, it appears that our voyage has really inspired many people to either travel to the continent or establish some type of connection with it through charitable means or some other type of positive action. I cannot begin to tell you how excited that makes me. My first trip to Africa was truly a life-changing experience. It came about after working with editor and literary consultant, Meri Danquah, who is from Ghana. Through that relationship and work with a mutual client, Meri and I became good friends, and she invited me to join her during her next visit to Ghana, and I happily obliged. I had always dreamed of visiting Africa, and finally my moment had arrived.
When we hear about tourism in Africa, South Africa is usually the most touted destination. However, Meri was a native of Ghana, and historically Ghana is very fascinating. It was the first black African country to gain its independence in 1957 and is considered the gateway to the continent. After researching the country, my interest was quickly peaked. Since I visited Ghana with a native Ghanaian, I did not have a regular tourist experience. I was able to see the country from her vantage point which was most decadent. I had the pleasure of touring the same slave castle that President Obama and the first family toured when they visited Ghana. I also went to Kakum National Park and braved the suspended 131 feet high canopy walkway, which was scary yet empowering. These experiences gave me a glimpse of what my forefathers endured centuries ago.
While the landmarks we visited where captivating, the travel books always say that it is the people that make Ghana such a special place. I found that to be true. I was able to hobnob with many intriguing people, like Anna Bossman, who was the head of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Atukwei Okai, who runs the Pan-African Writers Association, and John Dramani Mahama, who was a Member of Parliament back then and is currently the Vice President. Meri’s cousin, Joe Ofori-Atta, who is part of the Akyem royal family, took me around and introduced me to numerous dignitaries. I met the Okyenhene, king of the Akyem Abuakwa kingdom and interacted with one of the presidential candidates, Nana Akufo-Addo, who shared with me that he had a daughter that was also named Phaedra.
Phaedra, are you REALLY the 'Mastermind' behind the car theft ring that got Apollo put away for awhile???? We want to hear YOUR side of the story!!!!
I didnt like you at first but you have grown on me this year.. I luv your son he is so adorable!! best of luck
Phaedra Parks you are my favorite housewife of Atlanta. You are funny and out there. You seem to have a good hart. Don’t change. :)
Phaedra, I absolutely love, love, love you and your family on the show. You are hilarious and a true Southern Belle (not unlike myself). The conversations that you have with your mother remind me so much of the ones that I have with my mommie and aunties. I pray the best for your endeavors, your family, and for you.
Funny how after all the poverty...for basic needs you saw in S. Africa, you still went and did a 1st birthday party in excess. You are what is wrong with America. Your son is your prince...not "a prince". I feel sorry for you. You are the first human heart donor.
One question.... why didn't we see you meet up with the dignitary you were talking to on the telephone? Uummmm hhmmmm
A couple of favorite traits I love in people are-sense of humor and the ability to keep a cool head and act like a lady when all around them has gone insane. These traits you have and you are the saviour of this over dramatic show. I do wish Bravo would get wise and figure out it is not the fighting and drama that we want to see but they way people who have been so blessed not only enjoy life but give back to the communities. Anyway you are hilarious and I enjoy watching only when you are on.
Buy a bluetooth for you and your husband...surely you can afford it! And, while you are at it, tell your husband to stop reading speeches while he is driving.
You are the cat's meow! I find myself saying emhmmmm, throughout the day! You are adorable, smart and sassy.
I really think that you and NeNe would be great friends!
LOL..I absolutely LOVE you! You are the smartest one on there and you come up with wonderful tidbits of commentary. Your sense of humor is classy, and far above the heads of most of the other women there. Sorry, but I am not a fan of your man, but you are true blue so what I think doesn't matter. Come on girl!! A mortician? ummm that takes a great amount of specialized skill and is not something someone can just decide to do on a whim. I am not to sure how you would handle a body coming out of rigor and moving on your table as you cut, but you would do your best to carry it off with style and grace. You are my new favorite, but ditch the funeral business and go into something that deserves your style of pazazz! I do indeed laugh my behind off each time you are on. Thank you for the good times. You son is adorable!!
Phaedra your my favorite housewive of them all!!!Good luck in your new business!!You go girl!!!Oh and the trip was a nice idea!!!
Phaedra the best thing to do is what you did, not get involved. I like your poise and how you carry yourself, continue to be a classy lady, no matter what the other ladies may say, who cares about their opinion.
You handle everything head on. From the crap they all wanted to talk about Apollo to the snide remarks they all make behind each others backs. I love you and your family on the show. You are all a class act. Your ability to stay away from the drama & not stoop to their levels is awesome. Stay real. You and Kandi are my all time favorites.
I enjoy watching you on the show..Keep doing what you're doing. I just noticed tho you weren't at Cynthia's anniversary party..............
Phaedra, I really like you on the show......as a matter of fact I have been told by friends that of all the housewives, I am more like you. And I agree. We are stable, family women, but unfortunately to others, we have boring lives. I am concerned that you are going to be kicked off the show, because of your boring life. Spice it up a bit. Stop being the peace maker. Take a stand on some issues. Our personalities are great to live a regular life, but not to stay interesting on this type of show. I would hate for you to leave the show, but you have to get a little bit of drama going on.
Phaedra, You truly carry yourself with so much class. I admire the way you handle all ttypes of situations with such GRACE and POISE. I enjoyed your take on the African Trip. You were there to understand the culture and of course, this could be heritage to your family. I mostly was quite emotional when I saw the orphaned children. You are my FAVORITE in the Atlanta Wives. You don't start drama and you make everyone feel welcomed. Those ladies should be honored to have you in their presence. Thank You Phaedra for the LOVE you have for Humanity. May the Good Lord always be with your family members and yourself. Another Great Day in Your LIFE....Aloha, Sharon
Phaedra, You are my girl. At first I thought you were phoney but now I can see you are a Southern Belle. You could have helped Sheree if you could have put her exhusband in jail for nonsupport. He would have paid the back support to get out of jail. I think she wanted to use your services but not pay you. Everyone knows that lawyers get paid first before they do any work for you. Sheree commenting on you not being a real lawyer is an ignorant statement. If you passed the bar and can hang out your lawyer sign, you are a lawyer.
You are adorable and funny....nice addition to the show..would like to see you and Kim be closer Mommy/friends....you both have such sweet little boys..show them the way! Hugs
A CLASS ACT! Phadrea you are such an effin lady! The ladies were truly blessed to be allowed to go on a trip as such. I could only dream of doing some of the things you guys did and they ruined it with all the bickering and arguing. Like you said, "It would of been too much like right with these wrong girls." That trip should have opened up their eyes to all the blessings God has blessed them with. Even through all of that you still maintained your composure and stayed classy, like always. God bless you Phadrea, you and your family. Keep being an example for young women like me. There are not too many examples left.
Phaedra, Hate to break it to you and the other ladies, but YOU ROCK! You are a true LADY something they do not have a clue about. I love watching now you are a breath of fresh air and SO FUNNY!
Keeping it Real!
To all the viewers who post comments about Phaedra's hair being all 100% her real hair. No Shade, but NOT !!!!! Are you kidding me ? Her looks great just like all the other ladies , but it is simply and truly weaved hair added. Let's not be that damn in denial.
Thanks for joining the RHOA, you elevate the show. Other than that little mishap at Kandi's bd party you have been a blast. Even that mishap, a guilty pleasure for a lot of us, was done in the spirit of fun. The funeral home, well I will put on my seatbelt and go for the ride.
Phaedra, I don't find you two-faced at all. I think if you can remain on the periphery of some of these messes, that''s what you do. But, you will speak up when you feel strongly about something. I think you have so much class and I really admired how you embraced your trip, had such heart-warming feelings towards those less fortunate and gave the gifts you ladies just so willingly handed out. That gesture seemed to truly come from all of your hearts. You are lovely to watch/listen to and your presence on this show is so appreciated! I really enjoy you so much!
It is so nice to see a lady that have a husband on this show that is oh so intelligent. You are the BEST thing along with Kandi that happened to this show. I too an a southern belle and you add much class to the show.
also phadra, limit your funeral business on camera, i've had a lot of recent close family members deaths, too many to name, who wants to see this on the show. it seems to be a joke with you and all about the $$. it's really uncom- fortable to watch, i could understand apollo's reaction. you don't seem to take loss serious only profitable.
missmisty, maybe to he!! with me, fakedra, i mean phadra is ok with me, but she is two faced and kisses up to kim, she should have stood up to sheree for friend kandi. and her husband was in jail, so don't put anyone else down for the samething. everyone loves for pha-pha for her one liners and jokes, and they are cute, but class?
It seems that I'm too late to just say that I LOVE YOUR ROLE on ATL Housewives. You stay reserved and under control. You don't allow nonsense to take you out of the box. And yet, you are a real person with funny jokes; a little 'ghetto' flair; and nothing but lady-like tendencies. I would love to be a housewife WITH YOU on the cast. Cool people~
Phaedra! You are my favorite one out of all the animals! (you are the only one I consider human.!) You are a true definition of a sophisticated woman. You have very good manner and COMMON SENSE!
Phaedra, in regards to ("hg in va".) I say to he!! with him/her.
I just love you to pieces. You are by far not fake, (how dare she^) ;) not even close. You have it all. My husband's never watched you all with me but eventually he did thanks to you. I was in my bedroom LMBO when he yells.. "what channel is that you're watching" LOL
He fells the same way. You and Kim are my favs, you're very down to earth, same goes with Apollo, my hubby also got a kick when he said he wasn't touching any dead bodies.
Girl, you're the best, please NEVER change, which I know you won't.
PS. Where has your Mother been?? Love her too!
Phadrea you are my kind of Lady! Layed back, cool, class, take care of business and take care of family! The party for Kandi with the stripper was not done with class. I hope you have learned from that. That type of scene is not for everyone. It offends those who aren't into the freaky stuff.
You and Kandi are my favorite! Stay cool and out of the drama!
phadra you are ok, i just find you to be a little fakedra. at first you introduced marlo and charles to the show and said they were atlanta's socialites. then when she and nene became friends all of a sudden you have a problem with her. what did she do to you? it can't be because she's been in jail, because so has your husband for racketeering. it can't be because she sleeps with rich men for money. didn't your husband marry you a prominent lawyer. i hate it when people put others down for doing the same thing they are doing. every- one also say you are so classy and a southern belle, but you brought ridickulous to kandi birthday party to give himself hea@@@ and dip his body part in kandi's drink disgusting, and all this in front of her mother. nene said she stripped but did not put her head in her hello kitty. this not classy behavior for a lawyer. sheree will throw this up in your face one day, she don't think much of you as a lawyer.
Phaedra, i would like to say that I saw a different side of you, while you were in Africa and after. But I would also like to say that I was disgusted with Marlo and Nene's attitude. They forgot that they climbed the ladder in order to be blessed with the life they have. Not everyone in Africa, have any ladders to climb, except their SPIRIT to live and enjoy every bit of life.. I wouldn't pass it beyond those workers at the resort, if they had a lot to say (negatively)after some of the housewives left. Everyone went there with good intentions, but some the other two forgot...Keep up the good work, and this message is coming from a man, who watches the show
Phaedra ... Go head girl! You're a class act and also a peacemaker... please don't let them drag you into the drama and mess. Keep your head up!
Phaedra, you and Kandi are my favorite on the show. I like that you stay out all of the drama and mess of the other ladies. I love when you say umm hmm. You are really a true Southern Bell. Stay classy.
Phaedra I love you and your crazy comments: "Gone poot out a couple million". I love your attitude so keep up the good work!!!
Not what we give, But what we share, For the gift without the giver Is bare. ~ James Russell Lowell Ms Phaedra you are obviously a woman that walks with God. As you are what you share, which it is a great example that we should all follow everyday. Thank you for being such a wonderful lady to watch in TV. God bless you...
YOU are my fav also!! I love your attitude and even your speech. So southern. I do think you like to name drop, but hey, if thats what you want to do, do it. You have the best attitude!
