Kandi opens up about her engagement and Riley's relationship with Todd.
Jan 24Hello everyone! So much has happened since the last time I’ve blogged, I don’t even know where to begin…
Well, if you haven’t heard I’m engaged! That wasn’t on any of the episodes. That just happened on New Years. Todd popped the question. I was shocked to find out that at the same time Gregg popped the question to NeNe! Congratulations to them! I guess love was in the air for the beginning of 2013. We all are starting our year off right. I am happy, excited, and curious about what the future holds for me and my family.
I have so much to think about now, so much to prepare for. I’m clueless. We don’t know if we want a destination wedding, or if we want to do it in Atlanta. Do we want a big wedding or a small intimate one? Do we even want a wedding? Should we just get married privately and do a big reception? Well, I think I’ve axed that one out already. I think we’ll do a more intimate one, but if we did it in Atlanta, that’s not going to happen. It would turn into a HUGE wedding, because I have way too many family, friends, and people in general that I know, who would be offended if they’re not invited. Hmm… this is going to be crazy. I guess I’ll have to get advice from the other ladies in our circle.
Since I’m newly engaged, I’m going to touch on a couple of things in the last couple of episodes that would be related to marriage and family. First I’ll go back to my conversation with Porsha about pre-nups. I do believe in pre-nups. I know that some people feel if you are truly in love and are planning to be dedicated to your marriage that a pre-nup somehow means the person requesting the pre-nup is expecting the marriage to fail. I don’t agree. I feel like it’s a safety precaution. Just like if you have a fire extinguisher in your home it doesn’t mean you expect it to burn down, but you’re just prepared to put out the fire before it starts if need be. I’ve had friends and associates who didn’t get a pre-nup say “they didn’t need one,” “she or he would never do that,” etc. But then later when they got divorced, things got ugly, and the person tried to get everything, they were like, “I would have never thought they would have done that to me,” “she or he is not the person I married,” blah, blah, blah. I feel like people do some crazy and vindictive things when they’re hurt, so I think there should be agreements set in place while everyone is thinking clearly. That way if D-day ever comes (and hopefully it won’t, but if it does), then it doesn’t have to get uglier and more hurtful than it already is.

Kandi, God bless you and your family. Girl do what your heart lead you to. There are people who has all kinds of thoughts, and feeling about your life because u r in the spotlight. Kandi, I'm so glad you are not so "bedroom Kandi" this season.You were really starting to get on my nerves, especially having a young daughter. Kandi, saw your comments justifying doing a gospel song. There is no need to justify anything that you do. None of us are sin free. Christians seem to forget that we aren't sinless, we sin less (some of us anyway). Keep doing you. There is NO ONE that can or should judge you. Thank you for the song, I pray that it ministers to someone's spirit, that lives be changed through it.

I want to congratulate Kandi on her engagement. Kandi is a smart young woman. I'm going to trust her to know her circumstances and make the right and best decision for herself and her daughter. She has done a grest job shielding her daughter form the RHOA drama. We've seen her sparingly. I like the idea of a calaboration with Marvin Sapp. Kandi's talents makes her capable of dabbling in any genre. She dabbled in Country Music during another season. She has definitely proven herself to be a talented lyricist. I like that she tries different things and doesn't put herself in a box. It was nice seeing her dad on the show. It was that much more special because of their past. Kandi is showing us who she is as a person. I wish her nothing but success and happiness. ms. Burruss keeps it real most of the time. I hope she continues to be who she is and lay it on the line on an as needed basis.

Kandi: Congratulations on your engagement. I am a new fan of RHOA. I didn't think I'd relate, but I find many of you to be the most likeable of all the housewives, and I like you the most. You and your mother are real class acts. I was so moved by your new single. I don't know anything about gospel music but I would totally buy this.
Hi Kandi, I just want to say i seen the show with your dad and you singn to God. It brought tears to my eyes. I watch all the house wives shows and out of all of them you can tell you are the only one with any sense ,lol. Seriously that song will bless you cause it came from your heart. God knows our hearts. I use to be a biker chic on drugs. Now I clean houses for filthy rich people .I have turned my life 100 percent over to God. Kandi, do you really think that it's a good idea for you and Todd to live together while your daughter is an impressionable young girl? I don't have a problem with people living together without being married, but when there is a child involved, things have to be done differently.
I am so happy for you. I agree on the pre-nup thing. You always kept it real. Loved your singing. You caugh good one this tie. I know your other love was taking from you but he is i heaven and He will approved for you.

Hello Kandi: I'd like to CONGRATULATE you and your fiancée on your engagement. May God bless the both you to always just see each other and no one else in your relationship. Please do not use any examples from your fellow cast members and their marriages. Just allow God to be an intricate part of your love, devotion and respect for each other. Build your life together independent of any outside influences. Keep your business to yourself and you will keep busy-bodies out of your business! I just soooo appreciate your down to earth personality. You are totally in touch with reality and have been an example of NOT letting success change your head and direction. Just wanted to say that you are my FAVORITE housewife, well you and NeNe are tied anyway, but that's only because she has CHANGED so much! In my mind anyway I think that you have grown to love her as well, and is also a good indicator of WHY your my favorite housewife. I mean honestly, if someone can get a grip and move on with their life and their attitude we are the same type of person (I'm assuming here, cause obviously I do not know you like that) that says OKAY, whatever I like who you have EVOLVED to becoome :) Anyway, all I'm truly trying to say is that you are my favorite, hard working single mom on the show!

Hi Kandi, Congratulations on your engagement. I wholeheartedly agree with the prenup. May I use this opportunity to address something that bothers me each episode I watch the show?Though this may not be read by you, I feel compelled to get it off my chest. Ready...here goes...Would you please hire a landscape company to trim your shrubs and sod your yard. Hopefully this will occur by next season. Your huge yard lacks flowers and diminishes the home's beauty. The camera man shoots from the bottom of the hill and it looks a HOT mess. Next, can we hire an interior decorator? Please don't have us revisit your home next season and it looks a hot empty mess. No, we CAN NOT do it ourselves. Have you not watched the other housewives shows. Atlanta Housewives homes are EMBARASSING!!! no pictures on the wall, no accent rugs, cheap furniture, EMPTY KITCHENS (no decanters filled with food). Always preparing their own foods; it's ridiculous, and poor Phaedra won't even let us in her pathetic looking home. Quit bragging about your house being paid for, yet living like a pauper. Come on I'm looking for better next season.

Congratulations on your engagement Kandi! I only have 1 concern; why are YOU so concerned about the DVD drama?! Kenya and Phaedra are not "friends". Kenya just joined the cast, so why are you acting so surprised that they're both acting this way toward each other? When Kenya first started talking about Cynthia, Phaedra claimed "love: her then. Phaedra is a genuine person..period! Call Kenya what you want, but at least she's transparent! Stay out of the drama..remember your song :Rise above it"..Your in something that has NOTHING to do with you!

Kandi, I am so elated for you...You and Todd make such a nice couple...As for the wedding, my suggestion is to have a small wedding only with family and then one hellofa big reception. Congrats Kandi, you have always been one of my favs because your are an accomplished business woman and you tell it like it is. I'm 100% with you on prenups. Anyone that has major assets in this day in age, who want to act like its all butterflies and unicorns when it comes to love are just fools. You can't not predict future behavior. We have life insurance, health insurance, car insurance. Why the hell would you want look out for each others best insterests while yall are "in love" and maturely discuss the 'what ifs".
