8 Over-the-Top Hotel Amenities for Traveling Dogs

Four-legged jet-setters need indulgences too.

For many people, Fido —or Giggy, if you will — is a part of the family and trusted travel companion. Indeed for many celebs and common folk alike, no vacation would be complete without wags and woofs.

And they're in luck: According to a 2012 survey by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, 61 percent of properties permit pets — up from 52 percent in 2010. Yes, many hotels are now happier than ever to accommodate four-legged guests, offering pet-friendly amenities and elaborate experiences. From surf lessons to spa treatments, dogs live large at these eight hotels that take the pet guest experience over-the-top.

As long as a dog enjoys water, it can learn to surf, and McManus invites owners to participate in the water during the lesson. He says dogs respond much better to their owner’s commands.
