Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Reportedly Split
But have they called it quits for good?
Though Gigi had been expressing her adoration of her beau on Instagram and Snapchat as recently as last week, a source revealed to E! News that the couple has had issues for some time, "fighting" during her birthday at the end of April and have "broken up and got back together a few times."
But this doesn't necessarily mean the end for Gigi and Zayn. "Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It's all very unclear what's going on between them now. [They've] been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along," another source told E! News. "Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out. It's more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close."
Rumors of the couple's relationship began after they were spotted together outside of an after-party for the American Music Awards in November, the same month it was reported that Gigi called it quits with Joe Jonas.
Gigi and Zayn's romance was all but confirmed when the two appeared in the former One Direction singer's steamy music video for his single "Pillowtalk" in January. The two made their red carpet debut as a couple just last month at this year's Met Gala.
The supermodel, who also dated singer Cody Simpson prior to Joe, has faced some criticism of her relationship with Zayn. Gigi shut down one Twitter user after they responded to her post featuring a photo of Zayn saying, "practise how to walk properly instead of having a new bf every 2 weeks" in March. "I've dated 3 guys in 3 yrs, hun. My walk can always get better; I hope the unrelated bitterness in ur heart can too," she tweeted.
However, Gigi's mother Yolanda Hadid, has been supportive of her daughter's relationship from the beginning. "You know it's their choice, as long as they treat my daughters with great respect and they love them, it's all good for me," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills #ProudMommy said of Zayn and daughter Bella Hadid's boyfriend The Weeknd during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in February (clip below). "Well you know what? You can't tell your daughters who to date. It's their choice and I support them in whatever their choices are and pray for the best."
She was also a fan of Zayn's first solo album Mind of Mine, which dropped in March.
