Anything You Can Do

Adrienne is in the chips and feeling a bit Annie Oakley this week.

By Adrienne Maloof

I have to say that I really loved tonight’s episode.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and the Bravo App.

When I watched it, I realized that a positive theme seemed reoccurring. For all of the drama and glitz that you've seen so far, I think this episode showed the resiliency and strength of this group in many different ways. I'm a huge believer that women should feel empowered to try new things, to take risks, and to constantly challenge themselves. The women that I admire most in the world balance their strength with a graceful, yet fierce, femininity. The episode overall reminded me of that famous song from Annie Get Your Gun called "Anything You Can Do," where Annie Oakley stands up to Frank Butler and basically tells him that she can do anything he can, only better. I love that philosophy and confidence, because only the brave succeed, right? Of course, Annie Oakley finally decides in the song that the only thing she can't do is bake a pie, so maybe that is why I relate to her so well?

You've seen me kickboxing a few times on the show this season, and I have to say, it is one of my great passions in life. Even beyond the benefits of learning to defend yourself, I think that knowing you can own your space is a nearly magical thing. I kickbox every morning, and not only does it release stress and give me a great workout, it starts my morning with a reminder that I’m in control of how I handle myself and what I want to do. I was so glad to have Taylor over, and to have the opportunity to introduce her to the sport. You could see a new awareness and confidence in her, and I hope that she keeps it up.

So should we talk about how I cleaned up at that poker table? Yes, let's, because it still makes me laugh (and gloat a little too, I won't lie). I know it seems unbelievable that while my family is in the casino business, I had only played poker a few times before that night. It was probably a combination of beginner's luck and a little bit of strategy, but I was on a roll. I ended up winning ten straight hands. TEN! I think I was even getting some suspicious (read: threatening) looks from Annie Duke at that point. What can I do if a girl’s got skills? I don't suppose Annie Duke would have appreciated it if I had picked that particular moment to stand up and sing "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better." It was probably a good idea that I refrained.

Until next week!

XOXO, Adrienne

P.S. I've received SO many questions about the tinsel strands I wear in my hair and where I had them done. They were put in at the Palms in Michael Boychuk's AMP Salon. Also, talk to me on Twitter! Im @AdrienneMaloof. Have a great weekend!
