Greetings RHBH fans. Welcome to my second blog and thanks for all the nice compliments about the show! It’s really interesting to see what people like and what they’re curious about. I’ll get to your questions in a moment, but first, here’s the answer to the question I ended blog no. 1 with. Did you spot my Hitchcock-style cameo in the first episode? I’m assuming not since a) you don’t know what I look like and b) it was the back of my head on the plane ride to Sacramento.
Yup, that’s the back of my head in-between Kyle and Kim. Normally, I do my best to avoid being on camera, but that plane only sat 12 people, so I didn’t have a choice.
Now, on to your questions! I promise to answer as many as I can, as honestly as I can.
Two quick non-RHBH ones first.
I was pleasantly surprised by all the Bug Juice fans out there. It is not only one of my all time favorite shows I’ve worked on, it was also my first collaboration with Evolution Media, the company that produces RHBH. (But sorry to disappoint you, Kathy. I only worked on the first season of Bug Juice, so I don’t have the answer to the contraband question.)
I was even more shocked for some of the love for Real World: London. And yes, Neil getting his tongue bitten was quite memorable. (But imagine the production team’s dismay to have our wittiest cast member rendered mute for several weeks!) I’m glad there are still some fans!
Evolution Media produces RHOC and RHBH, but all the other franchises are produced by other production companies, so sorry to say I don’t have any inside dish for you there.
Housewives in other cities
Multiple people asked about having a Housewives show in their city. That’s up to Bravo, but I firmly believe you could find an interesting cast in just about any city, but there is one city in particular that I am mystified that Bravo hasn’t attempted a Housewives in. Dallas! I think people in Dallas are so unique and a franchise there would be a hoot!
Do the women get to have topics they won’t discuss?
Not really. The women all know that when they sign up for the show, their lives need to be open books. The one exception to that really is their kids. We do shoot with the kids, but we are not there to exploit them -- so that is the one thing the Wives have a little wiggle room with.
Can you please tell the housewives to blog---the fans live for it, and there hasn't been much blogging for the Beverly Hills housewives--
It is totally wonderful to have you blogging. I hope you do the whole season. I feel that RHBH is by far the best. It isn't just because of the ladies, it is done very well. You can tell the differance.
They are AWEFUL with that!! Only Kyle really does what she is supposed to do, so that is why she is the most relatable for me, anyway!
I hope the other Housewives of Beverly Hills will blog this season. I hope you will continue to blog also! Thanks! The previews for this season have me very interested. I can't wait to find out the "comment" that is made in Las Vegas.
Dave, Give me 1 good reason why I should continue to the the RHOBH? The ladies can not even post a blog! What is the problem? Do they not have nothing to say, are they too busy, or maybe they're just concerned about negative feedback?
Why are these ladies not blogging like the other housewives? It makes the whole thing more interesting.
Maria, I SECOND your motion. I never knew that the housewives blogged until I started watching the New Jersey cast and I LOVE to hear their feedback after watching the show. Especially knowing that it has been months since filming when the episodes are aired. HOUSEWIVES...PLEASE BLOG!!!!!!!!!
I have to agree with the other posters. I think BH will overtake OC as my new favorites, but I want them to blog!! Do they think it is beneath them? I'm sure they are busy, but how long does it really take? Just sayin' :-)
Where's Camille's blog?!? I really, above all others, have issues with her choice of words... When speaking of spending time in the Hamptons, we are aware she means spending time at her home. She doesn't need to repeat "my home in the Hamptons" to clarify. She should also refrain from letting us know that she flew her designer in "first class" for the afternoon. Indeed Camille, just say you flew him in. Furthermore, we speaking of NBA tickets, everyone knows you sit "courtside". It only needed to be said once!!! "Courtside, courtside, courtside". WE GET IT!
I'm glad you clarified the botox situation. The scene really made the good doctor appear inadequete. He is probably an excellent doctor.
Dave, loving your blog. Go Hoosiers, I'm an IU grad/Bloomington. Anyway, loving RHOBH and your insight actually makes them all the more human. Hope Andy is realizing this is good thing to do with the whole franchise.
Yes Dave I think it was a mistake not going into more detail about Camille's inability to maintain a pregnancy. Her past miscarriages were once common knowledge but time goes on, people forget and now she is being roasted in the blogs for her using a surrogate. Who knew people could be so cruel ...but there you go.
Love these Housewives!!!!!! Thats all I have to say. Love DC and their craziness, my husband loves NJ Housewives-minus Danielle-, but BH Housewives are great and I love looking at all the local stuff.
Thanks for the info! RHOBH is becoming my new favorite (previously it was OC). Is there any way the cast could blog more regularly? It's very entertaining to read the housewives' take on the show and the other ladies. And it's always fun to pop on the website and see a new blog entry. I really love seeing Kim, I remember her from "Escape to Witch Mountain" and "Tuff Turf" (a guilty pleasure!). Looking forward to the rest of the season.
When is Bravo going to film a show about REAL housewives? How about a trailer-park cast...gimme a call, Bravo. You want drama?...HERE is where you'll get it. We'd put those classy bee-yatches to SHAME! ;)
It angers me when Camille Grammer can do a interview for People magazine but still to this day can not post a blog!!! And I can't believe Bravo is happy about this! It really makes Bravo look bad!
Please, I beg you, don't even consider doing Real Housewives of New Orleans. The shows are my guilty pleasure and we have enough problems without idiot socialites making us all look bad. And as far as Camille is concerned, she did interviews when she announced surrogacy and stated she had Chrone's disease. People can die from this, and pregnancy complicates it.
So far, this show may be the winner, that is, if they showcase the women in a more normal positive light without all of the vulgar and foul language that is used in the other shows. These women (except Camille) do not seem to be too uppity and know how to act without making people feel inferior. The viewers really want entertainment in a classy way, not trashy. There would be a lot to be learned from these shows to make everyone feel better about themselves, even though, some may never reach the statis these women are blessed to have. I, for one, admire strong successful women with loving families and appreciate good manners, grace and poise, along with their style. It gives me ideas to enhance myself and my space. Good job, so far.
So glad to have another installment of the Housewives! I've been a fan since RHOOC premiered. I am from Bluffton, IN. What a hoot to realize that a "neighbor" is working on one of my favorite shows!
Dave thanks for your blogs.TRHOBH are my favorite i love watching them because they are classy, humble and rich.
Thanks for blogging. It's great to hear from someone behind the scenes. My question is more about RHOC because BH is so new. How much of an affect do you think the show has had on the bigger up's and down's in their lives? Tamra and Simon divorcing and financial issues, Lynn and Frank getting evicted (why did they move when they couldn't afford it?), and even my old girl Vicki getting divorced (sniff.sniff). I don't love all the cast members but I do wish them well. And watching Laurie (all time fav) fall in love and get married to George was really sweet to see. Do you think that all of these situations would have played out the same if the cameras were never there?
OMG! I'm totally going to watch this show! I hate the other housewives shows, but Kim Richards was my favorite child star. I'm 39, and as a child I watched escape to witch mountain a million times (about as much as grease). The other movie that she played in as a punker was a great teen movie. I always wondered what happened to her. She was one of the best teen stars for my generation! Perfect choice to have her on the show!
You are by far the BEST BRAVO PRODUCERS of all the franchises. Beverly Hills is so expertly put together, it makes watching all the more fun. LOVE THE SHOW!
I love RHOBH. The ladies are wonderful. At first my favorite was Kyle (I think she'll click with viewers like Bethenny did), but now I think it is Lisa. Lisa is so witty. I rewind her interview segments all the time. I really like them all. I also have a soft spot for Kim. This is the best cast ever, including my old favorite RHONY.
