Expect the Unexpected

Adrienne shares how touched she was to hear from her father at the séance and why she thinks lasting impressions count.

They say that you should always expect the unexpected.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and the Bravo App.

I should have remembered that when we went to Kyle's that night for the séance. Despite our last evening with a psychic, I was looking forward to the evening and was glad that Kyle had called Brandi to start mending fences. What I hadn't counted on was that the first person to be mentioned at the séance would be my father, George Sr.

You saw how quickly the mention of my father affected me because talking about my family and our bond is something that really touches me deeply and immediately. My relationship with my own boys and my love of being a mother definitely has its roots in the amazing relationship I had with my father and mother growing up.

As you heard, I lost my father years ago, but his lessons and wishes for me have never been forgotten. I grew up in a house full of ambitious boys, but my father always took the time to encourage me to excel in every way. For him, there was no question that I could and would succeed on my own two feet. There was absolutely no inequality between the sexes in my father's eyes -- he taught me the family businesses, encouraged me in athletics, and empowered me every day to equally achieve and believe. He answered my questions honestly, and gave me both his time and energy. In his eyes, even the sky wasn't a limit.

It took growing older and having my own children for me to truly understand the magnitude of what he had done for me. More than leaving us with assets and businesses to run, he left all of us with confidence in ourselves, and to this day I believe that is the greatest gift a parent could ever give a child.

So this blog doesn't have any jokes in it, and it's not very long. But maybe it's a reminder that while first impressions are important, it's the lasting impressions that count. It's a legacy of empowerment that I will do my best to duplicate with my own children.

XOXO,
Adrienne
