The execs at Bravo. I first worked with Bravo when I was the showrunner on the very first season of The Real Housewives of Orange County back in 2005-06. The execs at that time were Lauren, Frances, Andy, Shari, and David O’Connell. (We have four significant Davids on our show, so every Dave has to include a last name.) When I resumed working with Bravo in 2010 to start up RHOBH, they were all still there. Titles had changed, but the people were still there, which shows tremendous stability in our very unstable profession. (There’s a reason the Bravo brand is so unmistakably clear!) And special thanks to the newer additions Dave Serwatka, Ryan, Kimberly, and Galen. It’s really special when you like the people you work for so much!
The execs at Evolution. I first worked at the production company, Evolution Media, back in 1997, when it was still called Evolution Film and Tape. (Ha! Tape! That’s so last century!) The show was called Bug Juice for the Disney Channel and it was the first time I got a producer credit. I’ve worked on many shows for Evolution over the years, and they are my favorite company to work for. They are as kind and generous as they are creative. To Doug, Greg, Kathleen, and Alex, it’s a joy working for each and every one of you!
The significant others. We work long hours in reality TV and we couldn’t do it without our significant others. So to all the husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, kids, and pets that put up with our schedules -- THANK YOU!
I also wanted to wish Kim a Happy Thanksgiving! Hon I hope you are doing well ok, stay strong, love Trina
I enjoy BRAVO TV! It is the first thing I tune into each and every day! RHOBH is one of my many Real Housewives shows that I follow religously. Congratulations on the award! I look forward to many more seasons of the RHOBH!!!
Thanks for the shout-out to the fans. I never thought about how the Real Housewives franchise is comparable to the daytime soaps that are quickly becoming relics of the past. I wonder if my grandchildren will know what a daytime soap opera is? By the way, your bizarre miracle whip, turkey, cheddar and olive sandwich sounds WONDERFUL!! Add a little stuffing and voila - perfection!!
The show was more about the external and seperations less about resolving issues; it was the "ego wars", the bully, lack of the good for the whole, loyality and inspiration. Maybe a good reflection of what is happening in America today. This does not inspire one to be the best of his possible, yet it is what we all need to be.
Well Mr. Dave Rupel I'm wondering if you could possibly come from a very small town in Indiana because I know of a Hyerleys bakery down the road that not only makes great buns but also the best chocolate cream pie in the world. Really enjoyed reading your blog.
Hi Dave! Love your blogs, as well as the girls, but I have a suggestion that maybe you would consider.
So often I read, and have actually experienced myself, that people never get their comments posted. It's frustrating because many of the posts that the moderators select either do not make sense, have little to offer or are posted twice. However, sometimes I read a post and say, "Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking" or "I agree completely with that". Is there a way to have a 'thumbs up' tab we can click on if we agree with the post, instead of having to submit one of our own?
The moderators may like the idea because it will save time and help lesson the amount of similar posts by viewers. It will also save the viewer the time of having to type up a comment that may never be selected for posting.
I love that there really is a storyline for this season of Beverly Hill...not just a lot of cat fights. I hated that about NYC and so happy to see the shake up!!
RHOBH is one of my favorites. Love all the characters -- warts and all. I believe Lisa VanderPump is misunderstood -- she is British and is direct -- we Americans always love things sugarcoated. Poor Taylor Armstrong -- abused as a child and than as a wife -- she does not have coping skills so her coping skills are to manipulate, bait and cause division. Taylor Armstrong cannot help it -- she just does not realize that Lisa and Camillle are telling her the truth and that they are her true friends. Loved Kyle's green dress. Hope the Maloof Hoofs come in a size 11. A fan of RHOBH and all the other RH shows.
I think you should devote some time to a segment hosted by 'Bernie the Chef' during which he shares recipes and decorate touches for the holidays! It would be so much fun! :)
Hi Dave, Just wondering why you keep Kim Richards on the show. She rarely attends functions with the other girls. She does not join the girls on other TV appearances to promote the show. And when she does attend some of the get togethers, she is over medicated and confused or looks nervious and uncomfortable. Kim does not blog on the RHBH site. I am sure there is someone out there that would be a better employee for you. Thanks for letting me have my say.
I notice that Taylor hasn't been posting in a blog, and I'd like to say that I really feel for her and her family. Especially this episode. To see Russell and her together was really heartbreaking. I'm sending my prayers to her and her family for her loss.
As a retired casting director my suggestion to you for next season is to keep Brandi and Lisa. Recast everyone else. The pettiness, wackiness and "legend in their own mind" attitudes are getting quite boring.
You need to do a Housewives of Kauai. Here we have a slew of movie star personalites that interact with the "locals" (i.e..Mrs. Brosnan, Mrs.Roberts, Mrs. Smith, Mrs Middler...) Its really funny because most people here rarely go to the movies or watch TV so these "superstars" normally go unnoticed. We have an open air local courthouses (no AC) and the judge has to wait for the roosters to stop crowing before he speaks next to mega mansions on the beach. Just saying...
I would love to see Ellen Barken on the reunion show's with Andy. She is perceptive, and I know she would not allow the women to wiggle out of the hard questions. She could also help Andy "Tame" them if needed.
Hi, I'd love to see more episodes with Paul hosting his 'Night of Beauty,' he's got a wonderful sense of humor. It would be wonderful if he could give his opinions about some of the expensive beauty lotions and creams on the market, or make suggestions as to what can be used, how to protect your skin from the sun, what to watch for in moles, etc. Sounds crazy, but I think he could have his own show! :)
